Lost Ability to Interact with Scoutbook Plus as of Today

After being notified to assign our new den chief to a den, I logged into scoutbook plus and discovered that I can no longer edit the dens (which means no assigning anyone or advancing the dens when the time comes). I also can’t select anyone in our roster and see/interact with their adventure advancements, which is a problem as I am also the advancement chair. Why did I suddenly lose access to everything and how do I get it back?

My first step whenever I log into SB+ is now to force a refresh of the page assuming something is broken that a refresh/clearing cache will “fix”. The other thing that has recently changed is the default filters for the roster view. I had to go in and click “Reset Filters” to force the roster to appear properly the first time I logged in after the filter defaults changed.

@PatriceLeich- hopefully the SUAC team can figure it out

@PatriceLeich It looks like your registered position changed, which ended your Unit Advancement Chair functional role at my.Scouting. Ask one of the pack’s Key 3 or a Key 3 Delegate to add it back for you (at my.Scouting). After they add it back, you will need to wait for the overnight sync to run.

Same thing happened to me. Seems more like a widespread issue as in the middle of a scouting year we typically do not change roles. @JenniferOlinger

@JasonMroz - what does my.scouting.org show as your registered positions ?

Clear your cache or browsing history. I was having similar issues of zero scouts showing in any of the three units I am involved in. All was fine Monday (day), but by Monday afternoon, the rosters were showing zero scouts.
Some chatter in the forums suggested clearing the cache and that worked perfectly.

Resetting the filters corrected the missing roster. As for my sudden loss of access, our cubmaster logged in and saw that I’m no longer in the committee chair slot, which is now, empty and only fillable by our new, technophobic, elderly COR who is still figuring out how to use the websites. So, we might not have a committee chair for the foreseeable future, even though the roster still lists me as committee chair.

Someone would have had to take action to change your registered position. Your unit might consider having someone site down with your COR to walk them through the key aspects of updating the registered scouter roster. You may also want to consider discussing creating a COR Delegate with the COR, who can assign one from among the registered scouters at my.scouting (in the same Position Manager interface where Key 3 Delegates, UAC, and other functional roles are assigned).

The CM should be able to go to your membership and either remove the end date for the position of Chair, or just add it again. I think.

@MarianMcQuaid,
This is only true in classic Scoutbook, and will not impact the registered position.

@PatriceLeich,

Based on Jennifer’s post above that you had recently changed registered positions, I had understood you to mean that you no longer appear as CC in my.scouting (i.e. official roster), but still appear in the slot in classic Scoutbook.

If I have it backwards (i.e. you’re still registered as CC and you were just removed from classic SB), Marian’s solution might move the ball, assuming it re-creates your Unit Admin role.

@PatriceLeich Someone changed your actual registered position at my.Scouting, so the pack does not currently have a Committee Chair. You can try reaching out to your council Registrar, but you will probably need to get your COR involved.

That’s what I’m worried about since I haven’t been able to get him to respond to any communications so far and have yet to actually meet him.

Our charter org rep tried reassigning me as committee chair, but he is also the charter org rep of our affiliated troop. In my.scouting.org, he can only see the troop, not the pack. How will he be able to assign any positions if he can’t switch view between the two organizations?

@PatriceLeich - on the left hand side of my.scouting.org is the unit selector

The COR needs to click the dropdown to select the pack

I told him to do that and he said he didn’t see our pack when he did, only the troop.

This may be a “watch them do it” situation, since the COR for any given CO should see all of their units as an option.

If they post here, one of the SUAC might be able to look to see if there’s something odd with their registration (e.g. COR is listed as “Current=No” for the troop for some reason). Alternatively, if you have their Member ID number, you could post that (no names please!) and the SUAC might be able to find it that way.

The BSA ID number is 141477138.

@PatriceLeich His registrations in pack and troop both look OK.

He might need to call the local council and ask for their help putting you back as Committee Chair.

Thanks Charley I finally got my roster back by your fix! I had been doing a back door route through legacy for the last week. I’m so happy you posted!
