I have multiple issues with the conversion to Scoutbook Plus including an award marked as complete when the Scout never did it, a Merit Badge was awarded years ago but is not showing awarded in Scoutbook Plus, a Merit Badge showing up being completed twice, and a Merit Badge Counselor telling me that he now has the ability to see ALL Scout’s advancements (which he should not). These are only items I’ve seen, so far. Should I write a forum post for each item? Please tell me there is more work being done to fix or stabilize Scoutbook Plus. It is driving way too much work for an Advancement Chair of a large troop, with a Court of Honor coming soon.
Well @NicholasMorris - SB+ reads from the exact DB that Legacy SB read from.
So you might want to post like the Scout -98725 (just member ID # - no name) - shows Snorkeling Award.
97823597- has First Aid Showing twice (that is often 2 versions caused by Council Entry).
By breaking it up we can take a look at it
Donovan,
SB+ is an absolute joke. There are so many things missing, things marked complete that were not so many errors, I really don’t think I can list them all. I heavily utilized and relied on Scoutbook to track so much stuff I am at a complete loss. As leaders and parents we put so much effort into tracking activities, requirements, notes etc. From my view this conversion or implementation is a complete disaster. Completely beside myself and at a loss.
Everyone please keep in mind that the SUAC folks are volunteer scouters like the rest of us, trying to provide service within scouting by assisting with issues where they can. They have no control over what or when features are developed for SB+. The most they can do is convey the issues, but without specific information as to the issues, there’s nothing to convey except general dissatisfaction, which is not actionable intelligence. The best we can do as users is to provide detailed information about specific issues so that they can convey that to the developers who can take it up with the folks at national who actually make the determination as to what will be implemented.
@BrentMillet if you tell us the issues and the Scout MIDs we can take a look. On Awards (like snorkeling, 50 miler, etc.) there are issues with the whole category. On Notes for items, they were too large to do in initial transfer so they are slowly being moved over.
Since this is the outlet I know of, to go through the gate keepers to get to the gate keepers for the folks at National the message of our frustration and ire for corrupting and loosing so much of our scouts advancement, awards and records someone needs to convey the message. They have a great track record of such things. It’s a big list and a lot of lost information and until it is fixed it is lost experience here has taught that you usually will just get “sorry, it is what it is”. So the message to the gate keepers of the gate keepers of the folks take a step back and look at the messaging to the people who are in the trenches working with the kids trying to deal with their lost and corrupted advancement and awards. It’s a big list a tremendous amount of work of years and a tremendous amount of work to recreate and in many cases impossible and the messaging even in all of these threads is largely dismissive. I know I am not the only one in our units who feel this way.
Nothing has been lost. It is all in the database. There are some issues with the APIs that display the data.
If you need to see Scout progress today, go to legacy Scoutbook and run Scouts BSA History Reports. You won’t get the notes but you will get the advancement data and all of the requirements.
The developers are working on the issues and are getting them fixed. There are some additional fixes that are currently being tested. I hope to see more released early next week. Due to NDAs I am not permitted to say what is being tested but we have indicated to the developers where the big issues are and they are prioritizing these.
