Many scouts not showing as having email addresses in scoutbook

We have a large number of scouts in our Troop (328b) that have email addresses entered in their profiles (showing in scouting.org) but are not showing as being reachable via email in scoutbook. We also have 2 scouts who show in the list of those who have emails but have “No Email” listed next to them (the parents swear they’ve entered everything and can’t find a setting to unblock email. Can someone please assist in ensuring our troops scouts email addresses are appropriately sync’d with scoutbook?

In order for youth to receive e-mails from Scoutbook, they must have logged in to Scoutbook (legacy) at least once.

Also, they must not be opted out of e-mails from Scoutbook. If they are opted out of e-mails from Scoutbook, they can opt back in:

  1. Log in to Scoutbook (legacy) at https://scoutbook.scouting.org.
  2. Click on “My Account”.
  3. Click on “Email”.
  4. To the right of where it says “Messaging Opt-Out:”, slide the toggle back to opt back in.

I’ve asked the scouts noted as “No Email” to follow your steps above.

Regarding the youth receiving emails, I’ve had several parents confirm that their scouts have logged in with their own credentials and ensured email was entered, but they are still not appearing for us.

@EricSheesley - I suspect that the scouts logged into the scouting app rather than scoutbook.scouting.org. This is a watch and see what they are doing.

I’ve had one of the scouts missing from the send a message list login with his credentials to the website itself (scoutbook.scouting.org). Still no email option (even though he has an address in his profile).

@EricSheesley if you want help -post the Member # (no name) of a scout and we can look at it

Hello,

A couple of member numbers to look into please:

141420610

141409789

@EricSheesley yes neither has ever logged into scoutbook.scouting.org - one logged into mobile app but that is not the process

The second Scout does not have a username (login) at my.Scouting. He will need to create one and then use the same login and password to log in at Scoutbook (legacy).
