Members no longer in Scoutbook Plus, still in Legacy Scoutbook

I have two members with the exact same symptoms. They are both cross linked to two SA Troops, one in the Middle Tennesse Council, and one in the Greater Alabama Council. It appears that both members also have two different member ID’s as noted in Legacy Scoutbook by Member ID and Previous Member ID.

Member 1
ID: 13342483 (previous ID: 141498327)
ID: 142207384 (previous ID: 141509375)

I am the SM for Troop 7404, Greater Alabama Council, Talakto District.

These members were previously in Scoutbook Plus under our roster, but are no longer there. The parents have been told they must switch their primary ID which is unacceptable. If a scout can be linked to multiple units in Legacy Scoutbook, they should be able to be linked to multiple units in Scoutbook Plus.

Please let me know what we need to resolve this (if it is something on our side) or please resolve this on your end.

@ColemanBagwell - will they be registered in both ? Which will be the unit responsible for recording advancement. Legacy scoutbook was less about true registrations while plus is more closely linked to actual membership

@ColemanBagwell Each council has it’s own member ID numbers (MID), so they need an MID for each council.

Which troop is responsible for reporting the Scout’s advancements?

Note for thread:

Scout 1: 13342484 / 141498327

Scout 2: 142207384 / 141509375

Jennifer,

Are MIDs council specific? I thought it was user specific and could be shared/travel between units/council. Those scouts that move a lot would have a lot of MIDs.

@TJCline - all mid are council specific. Each council has a pool of member ID numbers and there are NO universal id’s at this time

Yes, MIDs are council specific. Users who move a lot, especially military, tend to end up with several MIDs.

Thanks Stephen. They will be registered in both for the foreseeable future. I will confirm with the scouts but I believe our GAC troop will be their primary troop. Is this what is being selected when the scout “switches their primary MID” in their profile? If so, how long does that take to be reconciled in Scoutbook Plus and show up in the troop roster? I still think there should still be a way in ScoutBook Plus to see all members of your troop, like Legacy Scoutbook did, even those that may be cross linked with other troops.

@ColemanBagwell If you could let us know which troop is the one that is responsible for recording the Scouts’ advancements, we can get things fixed for you.

@ColemanBagwell there is no PRIMARY. There are 20 primaries. that is one issue.
Registrars have a unit they call Primary for the one the Scout Pays for.
There is the Manage Member ID Primary (at my.scouting.org) - this is the MID that controls your identity to Scouting Systems - so whatever is set to Primary is who you are signing in as - My Longhorn Council MID is Primary - so when I sign in the system sees as my Longhorn council registrations define me.

SB has no primary - it just uses one MID per user. So a Scout needs to say This is my Primary unit and they will handle advancement.
