As a merit badge counselor (and confirming that I have selected my role as a MB Counselor in top right of Scoutbook Plus), I have marked the Camping Merit Badge (2024-Current versioin) as fully completed and approved for a scout who I have been assigned to.
When I click “Print Merit Badge”, regardless of which of the three options I choose (print on plain paper, unit leader signature, counsellor signature), I get the error: “Error printing Blue Card”. I can see others having the same issue on the forums but could not find any resolution.
Others seem to have found a workaround using legacy Scoutbook - however this scout is not showing in legacy Scoutbook as assigned to me (presumably as they were assigned to me AFTER the latest go live for Scoutbook Plus).
Have tried with Incognito / clearing cookies for *.scouting.org. No luck with either.
(Side note - I was having the ‘spinning save wheel’ problem for the same scout but noticed the Unit Leader had not signed the MB. After requesting the unit leader sign the MB, the problem went away).
@GeoffreyMaxwell - I too see that error and I recall it was reported to the dev team. If the blue card for a completed MB is really needed I would think that the unit the scout is in can print it out. I do not really see the need to print them for completed MB.
Thanks Stephen - use case here is that the unit usually only uses physical blue cards and I am trying to help the scout make a Court of Honor deadline… all fine but sending him a PDF of the approved blue card would be helpful to him, as he can then see it is fully approved.
@GeoffreyMaxwell - the unit should be able to print it out
@GeoffreyMaxwell the other funny thing is - a complete BC from SB is blank other than final date. So that is easy to reproduce with a pen. But the issue is on the DEVs list
I am having a problem printing a blue card too. I’m advancement chair for troop. A scout had a SM start his blue card digitally. I am trying to print the blue card so the scout can take it to a merit badge class on Saturday and I get error printing blue card message. I tried to go to legacy and it bounced me back + when I went to the scout merit badge. How can I get the blue card printed?
@BrendaKraft - can the MBC work with the merit badge within scoutbook plus ?
I won’t know until the scout is at the class on Saturday. They were told to bring their blue card with them.
This is a Pathways to Adventure Council event in Chicago.
@BrendaKraft
I would just give the Scout a regular blue card with the MB name written in and signed by a leader from the troop. This is typically much faster than printing from Scoutbook.
He won’t see a SM now before his Saturday class. One had signed it digitally in scoutbook +. We thought he could print it to take with him to the class that way.
@BrendaKraft As a Troop Admin, you should be able to print it in Scoutbook (legacy). Is that working for you?
No. When I go to the scout merit badge in legacy - it switches me back into scoutbook +.
@BrendaKraft - go to legacyscoutbook then the unit page and look for the line that says print blue cards. Click on that line.
ok. That worked. Thank you.
