Merit Badges - assigning a counselor errors

We are running a merit badge class for the Unit, it would be really nice if I could open the badge, sign the card, and assign the counselor all with quick entry, rather than one by one…

As I went through them (one by one) I got error messages (two different error messages) when I tried to assign a counselor to these scouts:

For the second scout, I wasn’t able to assign a counselor for either badge he has open.

I’m the admin person for my Unit - if there is a box for a permission, they’ve checked it for me. I was able to open, sign, and assign a counselor for several other scouts in the unit today.

Assigning MBCs is not working correctly right now.

You can assign MBC in mass - if you have access - you can go to MBC Counselors in Left Grey - Find MBC > Click Actions on Right > then fill out data and select and assign to scouts

Is the console working? I was able to assign and update requirements for everyone except

Something funky is going on in his profile and it won’t let me assign merit badge counselors to him (from the Troop profile, not the mb console).

Have you tried going to the Scout’s MB and assigning the MBC from there? What error are you getting?

Yes. I go in as an ASM to his merit badge, try to assign a counselor. I get the counselor to show up, click “Assign” - no error, the Assign button moves, but it doesn’t actually assign the counselor.

From the Counselor Console, when I enter his information, I get a message about his information not matching any youth.

Not sure if assigning is up yet. For MBC assigning scouts to themself - it works BUT the name is Case sensitive @JenniferOverturf

Nope - even capitalizing the name I get “The youth information does not match any record”. I was able to successfully associate the other 12 kids… this is not operator error. Something funky is going on in his profile. And it’s not just Sustainability MB, it’s also Communication.

@JenniferOverturf - that scout info matches what is listed in my.scouting.org ?

That’s the error - thank you! Dad’s name is on the youth profile in my.scouting. Council registrar can fix that, right?

@JenniferOverturf yes council can fix using Registrar Tools AND VST to sync to Scoutbook

Actually, no - it’s the kids name. (sorry!). And yes, name matches between my.scouting and internet advancement.

Something similar happened to me. It turned out that the Scout had a hidden character in their name. I can ask the developers to check.

As far as I can tell, all things match (but I can’t check for hidden characters).

For that one, it says he’s not a counselor for Communication, but when you look him up, he is…
