My name is Jonathan H and I am posting on behalf of the Advancement Chair and Key 3 Delegate for Patty B in Troop 88 in the Far East Council.
We have a Scout who is in my.scouting but is not in Scoutbook. His name is Garrett, and his scouting ID 140498921. Could someone help us figure this out?
I assume we’re talking about SB+ (advancemens.scouting), not classic Scoutbook? There are extremely limited reasons to be in classic Scoutbook anymore.
Usually, the first thing I recommend is verifying the users have tried resetting their filters on the roster. For reasons opaque to us as end users, it seems that SB+ sometimes needs the filters reset. I assume it’s due to caching issues.
Also, it’s generally best for the users themselves to post, since it can be challenging to diagnose an issue through a relay.
Correct. Scoutbook Plus.
I will check on the filters. I did ask her to change browsers, devices, and go incognito, but if they are client side filters it may have persisted. I did not consider that!
She tried to get on the forum to ask herself, but received the below error. I am going to sit with her tomorrow to see if we can’t troubleshoot the forum directly, which is a different help request!
That’s an odd one, all right. Maybe one of the SUAC volunteers will be awake before it’s too late on your end of the world and can provide additional clarity on both the “missing” scout and whatever happened with the login.
Do you know what the scouter was trying to do when she received the error? I don’t recall there being a stage where I had to change anything when logging in to the forums. It should be the same login credentials as my.scouting, since I believe it uses SSO as does SB+.
Understood. To add another level, when talking with my wife about this Scout, she also had issues connecting with him as a merit badge counselor. He did show on the roster for her as a normal committee member, but when she looked at her MBC section, he didn’t appear at first but then we both watched her (10) change to an (11) and this scout reconnected with her. She said this is a common thing with this Scout.
Patty said she was trying to log in and comment and got that error. Not sure any other details than that.
@JonathanHutto - the first thing that comes to mind is that the scout is a registered scout in another council. Since scoutbook is really designed to be a single user instance per council this could be what is causing the issue.
This scout is not multipled in any other unit or council to our knowledge. He did cross over in 2025 from the pack, and before about 3 weeks ago we had no issues with his scoutbook.
@JonathanHutto - it was a thought but lets see if the SUAC folks spot anything
@JonathanHutto I setup a 24 hour sync for the scouts accounts - check back then
Thank you for this fix! I can confirm tentative resolution. Patty just let me know that she can see him on her Scoutbook. I will make sure that the issue remains resolved in about 5-6 hours.
I will work with her on gaining forum access tonight and start a new ticket in the proper location if we cannot resolve her issues.
@JonathanHutto We think Patty’s issue with logging in to the forums has been fixed. Please ask her to try logging in to the forums again.
Thank you for your assistance with both issues! Patty now has access to forums.
