Multiple council woes...linkage between my.scouting and scoutbook seems garbled

I will give specifics here but worry that some issues may be more general.
I am registered under 140755614 in Council 777 in unit (cubmaster) and district positions.
I am registered under 141482653 in Council 347 as COR of two units.
When I make 141482653 in Council 347 primary in my.scouting and login to scoutbook, I see all three units. Under this ID, when I open reports and select the Pack 53 in Council 777, I see an open invoice from Pack 116 in Council 347.
When I make 140755614 in Council 777 primary in my.scouting and login to scoutbook, I see NO units, and under My account there is a link to information about Council 347.

…at least I can see all three units I need to work with in Scoutbook, but this is broken in many ways. It took the active support of a district executive in Council 347 to get this far…for a while, I could see Pack 53 in Scoutbook Plus but not Scoutbook.

All help deeply appreciated!
Michael

@MichaelMerritt2 as you are in 2 councils SB merged your 2 accounts into one under the 653 MID - when you logged in under 614 it made a new and therefor blank account. Scoutbook (like the rest of us) does not like multiple BSA #s. I can force a new user for the MID 614 that has those positions if you want and tell the different SB Users not to merge in the future.

Donovan,
Appreciate the prompt response!

I’m not thrilled with multiple BSA#’s either but wish Scoutbook and my.Scouting would address and solve this problem once and for all…so much manual effort and frustration for those of us lucky enough to be contributing in multiple councils.

  1. “I can force a new user for the MID 614 that has those positions if you want.” You graciously propose an action the consequences of which I know to understand. Would this mean I would have two different Scoutbook logins? Which records (e.g. training or YPT) would show up where?

  2. “tell the different SB Users not to merge in the future.” I don’t know who these people are, or when and why they might want to solve a future issue by merging. I’m confused.

3). What I would like is that when I set one BSA ID as primary in my.Scouting I would then see all and only the units in that council in Scoutbook, and vice versa, but that Scoutbook would recognize all my training taken under any of my four (!) BSA ID’s. (A man can dream.). I believe this is how the documentation says they should work.

  1. Another ask is that once I select a unit under “to purchase” that I only see invoices for that unit.

  2. Under the Hippocratic notion of not doing harm, at present I can get to all the units, access reports, and seem to be considered trained. So I’d rather live with the situation than take an ad hoc step if all the consequences aren’t clear.

  3. Finally and most important…I appreciate these tools and their help in delivering the SA program. And I treasure especially the help an support of the Scoutbook volunteer team.

Well you were trying to use an intended - when you change Primary MID - you are identifying who you are to the BSA IT System - I am Mike with MID $$$$$ in Blue Council - or change the Primary MID - Now I am Mike with MID %%%%%% in Yellow Council.

Due to Scout transfers and wanting advancements to stay with the Scout - a process was made to match up moving SB Users - that happened here. It moved all your SB Users to one User. I will go in and setup the 140755614 so it has those positions. and tell both SB Users to no longer look for matches to merge with.

All training will always flow to the MID marked Primary in Manage Member ID (this can take 24 hours).

Purchasing is just how it works. You can end memberships in Scoutbook for units that are out of Council for the login you are using, then you would not see the other units in purchase orders and things under that log in.

If you want this done just say so.

Donovan,
You are very gracious…I am a bit stressed but your confident expertise leads me to pronounce: Please make it so!

@MichaelMerritt2 ok it should function as intended now - one has extra positions from other account but you can go to Scoutbook.scouting.org > My Profile > and just put end dates to extra ones in wrong council

The good news is I can still see all the units in scoutbook. When I set 777 in scouting.org then I see only Pack 53 in scoubook, which is correct. When I set 347 in scouting.org I see Pack 53 (again) and the Pack and Troop 116 units in 347.

…oh, wait…I think that is what you were indicating in your comment, that the Cubmaster position for 53 in 777 would show up in 347 until/unless I put end dates for that position in that account.

A heck of a way to run a railroad! Thanks once again and always for the great support, I’ll get back to delivering the program!

Michael
