Multiples showing as expired

Our unit has several leaders who are registered with our Pack and with a Troop. I am one of them. I am showing current on our Pack, because they are my primary unit that I renewed through, however I am showing expired on the Troop roster, which is my multiple unit. Our Committee Chair renewed through her Troop, which her primary unit, and shows current on their roster, but is showing expired on our Pack roster, which is her multiple unit. It is affecting all adults on our roster that are registered with multiple units. Are other Councils having this issue?

Thank you.

@PamelaNelson1 - i think this a talk to your council issue.

@PamelaNelson1,

We’ve seen a delay in our unit between when the multiple (whose primary is different) submitted and appears current in their primary unit and when they go “current” in our unit roster. We haven’t done any deep digging on the issue, though, so I don’t have anything other than “I’ve seen something similar” to share.

I have talked to my Council. They’ve talked to National and have help tickets in, and they’re saying we’re the only Council having an issue with it. I figured I’d see if that truly is the case, because sometimes in larger organizations the left hand doesn’t talk the right hand and they may not be truly aware that other Councils are having the same problem. Seems odd that only one Council would have issues with the new recharter/renewal system. Also, some councils may not realize they are having the issue. We have been renewed for three months, and I just realized the probem when our COR was trying to move positions around in my.scouting because we just had our B&G and our CC is moving on, but we can’t move the new CC in, because you can’t move an expired member out of a position, even though she’s not truly expired.

Thank you very much for sharing your experience!

@PamelaNelson1 well you registrations have a few issues
You are registered twice in Pack under same MID (Member #) - as Cubmaster and Committee member - that is not possible - council needs to clean that up.
Your troop membership has not been renewed. So if you did it at same time it was not recorded.

I should probably clarify that we’re not specifically seeing folks show as “expired”. Rather, I’m seeing them still showing as “Eligible to Renew”, since I presume we’re still in the grace period for them.

The COR just moved me out of Cubmaster and into Committee Member today and it takes 24 hours to show, accoding to the message my.scouting gave after moving positions. My Troop membership was renewed, according to Council, when they renewed the all “old” December renewals. It’s affecting all multiples in the three units I work with.

Yes, they are showing “Eligible to Renew” on my roster in my.scouting, they are showing “Expired” on SB+, and in Position Manager in my.scouting, they are showing Expired.

If my Council is doing something wrong with renewing Multiples, then I would hope National would be able to walk them through it. But so far, they don’t have a solution for us and again, seemed odd that we’re the only council. The other member that replied on my thread, who is not in my council, has said they’re seeing similar issues, so it’s not just our council. I got the information I need, and I’ll keep waiting for National to figure it out. Thank you.

Councils should not be renewing multiples. That is an individual task for each Scouter to do (or the system) when they renew - that is one of the whole points of the change. So not sure what your council is doing.

Council is processing our paperwork and taking our payment so we don’t have to pay the 3% administrative fee. Our CC, was on our renewal orders at Pack, as well as the Troop’s renewal orders, but paid through Troop, and is only showing renewed through Troop. When I try to renew her again through Pack because it says she’s expired, it shows she’s renewed through 12/31/25 and it would move her expiration out to 2026, showing that she is current, just not current on the official roster.

> Are other Councils having this issue?
Yes, we are having the same issue in my local council. Many multiple registrations were not renewed. The council registrar is helping to identify those instances so that they can be corrected. I don’t have a clear understanding of how the problem occurred – some registrations were renewed by the unit and some by individuals.

Yes, AWC has the same issue - folks renewed with their primary position getting the new expiration date and their multiple positions not updating.

In 15 days, for us, their multiple positions will drop off with the end of their grace period. More shortly, have to change computers …

@DougWright

Did they renew each position? When I renewed back in September, I had to specifically renew each of my positions in 3 units.

I’ve seen several with this issue too, especially when the primary unit pays. Oddly, mine worked fine to renew all my positions. Others renewed after that did not renew the multiple positions.

For anyone at the district or council level that wants to see who has multiple registrations that are going to fall off at the end of their grace period -

  • Log into My.Scouting > choose organization level (council/district) > Training Manager
  • Click YPT Report, then Export to CSV
  • Open in a spreadsheet
  • Sort data by membership expiration date, color fill those expired 12/31/2024 (or other date)
  • Re-sort data by last name, first name
  • Manually check for same name with both expired and not expired registrations

My council has about 75 multiples that will go away on 4/02. So, after they drop, 75 people will need to create online multiple registrations to replace those going away.

If someone has a better way to deal with this, please tell me.

If they were 12/31 expiration dates, I think they could multiple online now. Several of ours did that yesterday.

Can you explain how they multiple online, now, please? What steps did they take to do it? All of ours that are showing expired are 12/31 expiration dates. Thank you.

@PamelaNelson1

  1. Have them log in at my.Scouting.
  2. Click on “My Application”
  3. Click on the “Transfer / Multiple Applications” tab.
  4. Click on the “Multiple” button.
  5. Fill in the unit and other information.

After this process is completed, the COR (or COR Delegate) will need to approve the online application.
