Hi, I recently applied to T582 (Monterey Bay, Polaris) and paid membership fees. The committee chair was able to assign me role of Youth Protection Champion. However today committee chair mentioned my name no longer shows up in the roster. I am unable to view Report tab to run PO. Please help.
My member number is: 13824033, thanks
What do you see when you log in to my.scouting under your registered position?
@SubramoniamPerumal
Your membership is not yet active. It is probably waiting on the criminal background check to come back. The day after you appear on the troop’s my.scouting.org roster you will have access to Scoutbook Plus.
I see no positions listed even though the committee chair added me to the position.
Today morning I received an email that my bg check was complete and I was approved. Do you suggest I wait for a day? I do not have access to ‘Roster’ tab yet even though I was added as ‘Youth Protection Champion’. Chair was saying my name does not show up under this role in SB+. Thanks
Yes, your registration is still not showing as current in Akela, the person database. There are overnight processes that must run. I would check again tomorrow.
Adding to what Ed mentioned, my usual first stop for positions not appearing is checking the list of current registered positions in my.scouting. If the position isn’t there, particularly for new positions, it’s usually related to whether or not the registration has been processed yet (e.g. not yet submitted by unit, submitted in hard-copy but not yet processed by registrar, background check not yet completed, etc). For those cases, if waiting overnight doesn’t fix things, and the position still isn’t showing up in my.scouting, a call to the council registrar can help clear up (or at least identify) whatever issue is impacting things.
I would recommend waiting at least a week after the Chartered Org. Rep. has approved the adult application before calling council. Sometimes the background checks can take a while.
@SubramoniamPerumal - just to provide additional information the Youth Protection Champion is a functional role so your registered position would most likely be that of Committee Member.
Thank you everyone for your kind response. I will wait for few more days before reaching out to council.
@SubramoniamPerumal - I would work with the committee chair or charter org rep. Council can not assign any position or functional roles
I am able to see my registered position today in myscouting profile, however in SB+ I do not see Roster > Advancements tab. I would need to run purchase order reports from Advancements tab for my troop. I want to understand if my current position would provide me the Advancements tab access or should I seek a different position from my committee chair? If this position will give me access I can wait for few days to see if it shows up. Thanks
@SubramoniamPerumal
As a committee member you have very few permissions in Scoutbook Plus. A Key 3 member needs to give you the required permissions.
@SubramoniamPerumal - youth protection champion would have nothing to do with advancement. The unit advancement chair would handle that.
Following up on Ed and Stephen’s remarks, your Unit Key 3 likely need to review these linked documents in order to determine what permissions to assign you have how to do so:
A major focus of the migration to Scoutbook Plus is to have positions mirror the positions shown in My.Scouting to ensure positions were reflected accurately in both platforms. The main purpose it to honor the guidance of our charter organizations and the positions they approve. Therefore, Scoutbook Plus does not use Legacy Scoutbook positions. Registered positions are used to provide base permissions. Some additional permissions can be added by the unit, however, there are restrictions on what can be given. See the updated Scoutbook_Permissions.pdf and the Scoutbook Plus permissions video for more details.
@HeatherSilva
By default, ASMs do not have Advancement Edit or MBC Search permissions. Your Key 3 can use Position Manager to give you additional permissions.

I can ask them to review the permissions. That will help me, but I still can’t help my son if we can’t search to find a counselor when on the youth profile.
Carrying this discussion on in two places makes it difficult to keep everything straight.

Thank you everyone for your support. I now have required permissions to create PO
Searching for a MBC isn’t something Scouts do. So, that would be by design.
