As part of our ‘prepare for recruitment’ drive, we are encouraging all units to name a New Member Coordinator and add that role in my.scouting. This ensures that they are ready to receive and respond to Leads and Applications. However, several CORs/COR delegates are reporting that they are not able to assign a New Member Coordinator (NMC) in My.scouting. The only option the system gives them is to name the COR as the NMC, which is nearly never the desired state.
According to page 17 of the Technology for Commissioners:
The “New Member Coordinator” role is a Functional role (“F”).
However, instead of a normal name picker, the system displays the picker this way:
(this is greyed out because, as District Commissioner, I don’t have rights to assign this position, but the COR is seeing the same thing, just with the ability to assign the COR [only] to this position)
Questions:
- Is the NMC a Functional role? If so, why is it on the Registered Position tab instead of the Functional Role tab? (maybe there’s a more updated version of the Commissioner Technology manual?)
- Why is the COR the only selectable person for the NMC role? If this is intended, then what is the role of the NMC?
- How does the role of the NMC differ from the role of Registration Inquiry? The Commissioner Technology matrix shows that both have the same rights in my.scouting.
Thanks,
–Paul
