My.scouting password reset throws error

My son needs to urgently take YPT for NYLT next week. He hardly uses my.scouting so we tried to reset his password, but it throws this error:

Our apologies, but we are experiencing an error on our end. Please contact your local council to report it.

3) tried chrome and safari

@MatthewYourek- it does say to report this to your local council. There is nobody on the forums that can assist with this.

I tried but cant find contact info for CFC tech support and when I called council to speak to rep, went to a voicemail saying she’s on vacation til new year

@MatthewYourek- the registrar can reset the password normally.

@MatthewYourek Are you using the chatbot (“Betty”) when trying to reset the password?

If so, could you please try again?

@MatthewYourek There are a few people at your local council who should be able to reset the password if the “Betty” chatbot doesn’t work. Try your council Registrar or your Scouter Services Assistant.

I have a scout from our district that was part Troop 261 San Gabriel. He is an Eagle Scout who is going to walk the Rose Parade.

He sees his account when he tries to create his own login to Scouting org but when he tries to retrieve his account he sees. The next screen just goes to the login & not his account

@tommymartinez This young adult’s membership expired and is outside of the grace period.

What is he trying to do?

He wants to join our Troop 476 as a Jr Scoutmaster, plus he needs to do his YPT in order to walk the Rose Parade

He is an Eagle Scout over 18 years old

He will need to register as an ASM (18+ registered role), not a Junior ASM (under 18 youth position of responsibility) if he’s planning to be associated with a troop.

Has someone watched him logging in at my.scouting to verify that he’s in the right spot?

He has two usernames. One is a first name (not his) and numbers. The other uses google signin. Which does he want to keep?

Also, it looks like he completed Safeguarding youth training yesterday on the wrong member ID. It can be moved over, but the extra username need to be merged.

Thanks so much for the update and for looking into his account! That’s really helpful to know about the two usernames and the YPT issue.

He definitely wants to keep the username linked to his Google sign-in – that’s his primary one.

Could you let me know what the next steps are to get his YPT moved over to the correct member ID and merge the extra username? We want to make sure everything is sorted for him to join us as a Asst Scoutmaster and be ready for the Rose Parade.

@tommymartinez His usernames (logins) at my.Scouting have been merged. Because he is 18, he can register as an Assistant Scoutmaster or Unit College Scouter Reserve, whichever is more appropriate.
