Hello,
I have two parents who have successfully registered with the BSA under Troop 803 and have completed their SYT. However, they are not showing in our troop roster as registered adults.
Here are their BSA details:
BSA Member ID: 142327532
REMOVED BY ADMIN
BSA Member ID: 142579838
REMOVED BY ADMIN
Can you please take a look and advise?
Thank you.
Vikram
Troop 803 Adult Training Coordinator
@VikramGowreea please do not post personal data like names and emails - all that is needed is the Member # by itself
@VikramGowreea not sure what you are asking - the 2 member # above - are not registered leaders.
142327532 is a parent to a scout in 803
142579838 is just a person - they are not a parent to a scout.
Hello Donovan,
Thank you for your response. My understanding is that when a parent registers with a troop, by default he/she is assigned the default “Committee Member” position and becomes part of the adult roster.
Here are the BSA ID of two other newly registered parents who show up fine in our roster: 14567053 and 142415632.
Can you please explain the difference between the “ok” IDs, 14567053 and 142415632 vs. the 'no ok" IDs142327532 and 142579838?
Thank you again,
Vikram
Also, if a registered parent is not part of the adult roster, how can i look him/her up to verif their BSA registration and SYT status? Thank you!
OK - you might want to reach out to your council and your local commissioner for a better understanding. Or a conversation with the Key3 in your unit.
Youth join the Unit as Scouts. They fill out an application. If the unit accepts them they are in the unit as Scouts. On the application at least one parent is listed. They are just a parent, that is all.
If an adult wants to be a leader in a unit, they have to fill out an adult application for the unit, be accepted, and go through a criminal background check.
For the first 2 #s - it just looks like they are adults, not Adult Leaders in a unit. Having a # or doing the Youth Safety Training have nothing to do with being a leader, anyone can do these things.
14567053 142415632 have gone through the Adult application process,
Parents Nationally do not have to have SYT training. Your Unit or Council might have other standards, but that would be your issue to track, as it is not a National standard.
Thank you! I appreciate the clarification.
