Cannot Add Leader To Unit

Hi, I am trying to add a new leader with BSA # 130834418. When I search by his name, registered email, or his ID nothing comes up. Can someone please let me know what needs to be done for him to be able to be added to our Webelos Den in our unit?

@DonovanMcNeil

@JamesDavis17 - is that leader listed on the roster at my.scouting.org ?

@JamesDavis17 that Scout is not registered under that number

I didn’t see him there.

He is not a currently registered leader under that number or name

What needs to happen? Are you saying he needs to fill out an adult application so he is in the system?

Yes he is not a registered adult - he needs to apply with new application

Okay thanks. Your assistance is much appreciated!

Donovan, how would we know if the adult is a “registered adult”? We have a similar situation where a registered parent of two scouts shows up in our Pack for email communications, has a Scoutbook member ID, had their profile updated with “Adult Leader” in the “Modify Connected Adult” section of Scoutbook. The adult does not show up when searching for an Existing User.

@MichaelSUhl post just the BSA # and we can look - all parents that sign a BSA youth application get a Member ID

140574183 - member ID

Yeah the Adult Leader checkbox is odd - am checking on that - but the parent is not a registered leader.

My go-to for this is to check the official unit roster at my.scouting. To do this, one must be registered as one of the Unit Key 3, or have the Key 3 Delegate or (I think) Registration Inquiry functional roles assigned at my.scouting.

You can also sit down with the adult and have them log into my.scouting (assuming the login they’re using is connected to their registered position, which it should be if that’s where they did their YPT). They’re registered position(s) should appear in their My Profile, even if it’s with another unit.

@MichaelSUhl - the adult leader check box will normally show up when they are connected to other scouts… this was a legacy scoutbook design. It does not however equate to a registered leader.

Thanks all. I will follow up with the adult. Good to know that parents have a two-step process to be formalized from the pack as Leaders, even if they’ve enrolled with Scoutbook and taken YPT in it.

@MichaelSUhl - they will need to fill out an adult application making certain that they use their BSA member id on the application

I received an email from the parent stating registration was complete. They used the member ID number listed on their Scoutbook profile. How long until this registration is processed and accessible to our Pack?

@MichaelSUhl there is no open or pending registration for that name of BSA # in the system. Your COR would also have to approve any Adult registration

Is COR a role in our Pack, or the Council (of Registration)? I have Pack Admin access, so I think I could make approvals.

COR is your Charter Organization Representative - they are the only ones who can approve it for a unit - if your unit leader does not know who it is talk to you District Staffer
