Not able to connect MBC to scout

I have tried changing everything I can when searching for existing MBC to make connection. We are not in the same council. I am entering everything for him the exact way I see it when I find him on the available MBC list. I have tried MBC only, search all councils and tried checking nothing in the search form.
The MBC BSA ID is 123593146
Scout ID is 132232616

@GeofferyBeatty In Scoutbook (legacy), go to:

  1. [Scout]'s Connections page.
  2. Click on the red “+ Add” button (assuming that the MBC is not already connected to the Scout).
  3. Enter the MBC’s name (use first name, not nickname), e-mail, city, and state.
  4. Check the box to “Search from all the Councils”.

Yes, I have tried that and I get ‘No record found that satisfies the search criteria.’

Please try again. He had a duplicate Scoutbook account.

I just logged out and back in. I am connected to the scout as a parent. Do I need to wait for the system to refresh any certain time as I am still getting the same no record found message? I am the parent connection for the scout in a B troop but committee member in that troop and advancement chair and assoc. advisor in his crew. is there some type of issue between cross units that might be preventing this? Should I ask to be issued higher permissions in a unit? sorry for all the questions at one time!!

@GeofferyBeatty See if a Troop Admin can add the MBC connection.

@GeofferyBeatty The Scout has multiple leadership positions that are not approved in Scoutbook. I would recommend having a leader approve them.

If you are Unit Advancement Chair for the crew, I would recommend asking the crew’s Key 3 to use the Position Manager at my.Scouting and designate you as Unit Advancement Chair in the functional roles. This will make you an automatic Crew Admin the next day.

@GeofferyBeatty Looking at it again today, and there are 3 leadership positions that are not marked as approved in Scoutbook. I recommend having a leader approve them:

  • Vice President of Communications
  • OA Chapter Vice Chief
  • Vice President - Program

I had my permissions elevated and was able to clear his leadership positions up as well as the 3 above. I was then able to make the connection with the MBC. Thank you for all of the direction!!

@GeofferyBeatty I think the issue with adding the MBC might have been because you were not marked as an adult leader in the Scout’s Connections. That should be fixed now.
