Unable to connect with MBC

I am unable to connect any MBC with my 2 Scouts. I have searched using all combinations of information and have tried Include MBC Only and Search from all Councils without any luck. I am the Advancement Chair for our Troop and have access to the MBC listing and have found the Counselor there but am unable to establish the connection.

The MBC and I spent 20 minutes today trying all the different combinations. Any help is much appreciated.

@JaimieGardiner - i can attest that the MBC can connect to the scout themself with the last name and BSA as I have done that last weekend

@JaimieGardiner What is the MBC’s member ID number?

(No names, please)

@JenniferOlinger Thanks for your quick response. I tried to attach two the first was131329055 and the second was 13626944

Thanks @Stephen_Hornak that’s what we ultimately wound up doing with the first counselor, but I am hoping to not have to do that each time. Others were able to connect directly.

This user had a duplicate Scoutbook account. That should be fixed now.

I was able to find this MBC on the Scout’s Connections page in Scoutbook (legacy). I had to use “Search from all the Councils”.

Hi Jennifer - I tried again and am still unable to connect to the second 13626944. I asked my husband to log in and try and he is able to connect, but I’m still getting the error message “No record found that satisfies the search criteria”

@JaimieGardiner I am able to find this MBC using this information:

Firstname Lastname
Email address
City
State
“Search from all the Councils"

And also:
Firstname Lastname
member ID number
Email address
“Search from all the Councils"

@JaimieGardiner MBC search seems a little off and is being looked at - BUT MBCs can always connect themselves to a scout by going to Legacy Scoutbook > My Connection > click “Add” > enter Scout Info

Thanks for your help - I’ve tried it all and can add the counselor if my husband logs in but not on my log in

You also had a duplicate Scoutbook account. I have merged them.

If you are the troop’s Advancement Chair, I would recommend asking your troop’s leadership to add you as a Troop Admin.

Thank you for your help. Now I see that my one son has a duplicate empty profile tagged to me. How do I remove the extra profile?

@JaimieGardiner I have merged his Scoutbook accounts. You will need to log all the way out, then log back in again in order to see the change.

Thank you for your help. I just tried to search for the counselors and still am getting the error message. Does this mean I won’t be able to connect even with the updates you’ve made?

@JaimieGardiner Please log all the way out, then try again.

@JaimieGardiner If the Scouts are already connected to the MBC, then the search will not find the MBC (because they are already connected).

In this case, you would just find the MBC’s name in the Scout’s Connections, click on the MBC’s name, then add / subtract the merit badge(s) as needed.

@JenniferOlinger
Try the following.
Go to the scout’s page, advancement, start the new merit badge for that scout. DO NOT choose the counselor from the top of that page.
Now navigate back to the Scout’s page and pick their connections.
From the connections page, put in the merit badge counselor’s Name, ID and email. Then search.
Assuming they then show up - link that counselor to the scout for that specific badge - check the box for Merit Badge counselor.
Then if you navigate back to the scout’s advancement details - verify that they are connected to the counselor you selected.
