Online Adult Leader Application

My son has been in his Troop for two years. I was a registered leader with his pack when he was a cub ((I’m still listed as such on scouting.org). However, for some reason, when he moved up to the Troop, my adult leader application did not transfer. I’ve continued to be current on my YPT, but I’m not listed as a leader with the Troop.

I’ve been told that I need to re-apply to be an adult leader. Is there a way of submitting my application online (instead of the paper form)? I’m in a bit of a rush as we’re going on a high adventure trip in two weeks and need to be approved in advance of that. I can’t find a link or option online to submit my application.

@MarshallHill1 - adults are not automatically moved from a pack to a troop it is either paper application or via beascout.org. Either way it will be subject to approval by the Charter Org Rep.

Understood (and thanks). Just trying to figure out how to apply online. Sounds like beascout.org is the website.

@MarshallHill1 - the default search is for cub scouts so you will need to change that to scouts bsa and make sure you match your existing account

beascout is only the website IF the council and Unit allow adult applications

It appears that my Troop and council do allow it. Interestingly the website prompted me to “transfer” my status from the Pack to the Troop instead of submitting an entire new application (I still had to answer background questions).

@MarshallHill1 - perfect now make sure the cor is aware to approve it

Another way to get there: If you are currently registered with the pack, all you should need to do is log in to your account at my.Scouting.org and then:

  1. Click on “My Application”.
  2. Click on the “Transfer / Multiple Applications” tab.
  3. Click the “Transfer” button.
  4. The search for the troop.
Yes, you might have to answer the background questions again.

The troop’s Chartered Org. Rep. will need to approve the application, and you might need to wait on another criminal background check, depending on how long ago yours was done with the pack.
