Parent Child Connection is Broken

I’m seeing a lot of weird things after completing 2 council-to-council transfers for 2 batches of scouts (1 to a troop and 2 to a pack) per the documented process.

It created 2 new IDs for me, and it’s messed up a lot of connections, including duplicating connections to my cub scouts, one for me, and one for my nickname (preferred name), and making my boy scout completely invisible to me in scoutbook (still see them in my.scouting–>application).

My preferred name connection seems the better connection (it brought over my profile picture and all that. Troop leaders say connections looked correct on their end, and everything was fine like 2 weeks ago, so I don’t know what went wrong. All three scouts dropped off my dashboard and SB+ wouldn’t even let me log in since I had no kids anymore. One of the Key3 tried to fix the connections and now things are messed up and duplicated, but at least Incan see some of my kids, but still not my oldest scout

Scout ID: *223 (broken)
1st Cub Scout ID: *663 (duplicated connection)
2nd Cub Scout ID: *665 (duplicated connection)
My ID: *224

How do I get someone to look at these connections and clean them up? I haven’t had to post here in 5 years and someone just fixed everything for me.

So, after doing some sleuthing, I added a missing Member ID to myself in my.scouting (*664) and I can now see my scout. I still have messy connections though that I could use some help. Looks like this might just be as simple a member ID merger (please merge to the lower one) but this event could be used to submit a bug to the council transfer tool.

Thank you in advance.

@TCMontague this is a conversation to have with your council registrar - they can clean this up - your relationships are messed up as well as you are Son of one of your Sons.

Thanks for taking the time, and from everything I’ve read on these forums and the documentation, you’re right. However, our council doesn’t have a registrar and I was told to post it here:melting_face::man_shrugging:t2:.

Then the Scout Executive should do it. Someone in your council has access to this otherwise no one would be registered.

I appreciate you looking at this, but can you tell me if there are any problems that you’re seeing the Executive won’t be able to fix? You know way more about this than me, so take everything I say as you will, but I assume I could delete all the connections my key3 made when they tried to unhide my kids, but that doesn’t solve the problem of the database hiding kids who are shown to be connected to me and my correct ID.

@TCMontague - the unit key 3 will not be able to fix it as it has to be done in registrar tools

As stated - first you are the child of your own child - that messes up alot of things. Then they need to look at your relationships to make sure they are correct

Ok, I talked with the closest person we have to a registrar yesterday, and they say they’ve fixed the I’m-my-own-grandpa problem:

Futurama: I'm My Own Grandpa Paradox

I was hoping everything was going to sort itself out overnight, but alas, it didn’t. If you kind gentlemen could look at this again when you have a minute, that would be great. The not-registrar tried to make both of my ID’s have the same connections, with hopes that someone here could merge them. I don’t know what that means, exactly, but that’s what she said. I want to keep *224 and merge/make obsolete my *664 ID.

Even though my *224 was created when the transfer tool created my kids *223 member ID, he’s missing in SB+ when I log in. If there are specific instructions I can pass on to my council, I’m happy to be the middle man again.

Thank you, and I really do appreciate the time,
TC

@TCMontague Ask the council Registrar to use the Registrar Tools to look you up under MID *664 and remove / delete all “Relationships”. Then double-check by looking up your children and making sure that you are not listed as a relationship under that number. After that happens, we can merge your Scoutbook accounts.

Ok, she says everything is cleared out from MID *664. Let me know if you need anything else done.

Thank you,

TC

@TCMontague Your Scoutbook accounts have been merged. I would recommend waiting for the overnight sync to run and check back tomorrow afternoon.

Everything is looking good on the front end, so I appreciate everyone’s help on this. I’m considering this one closed. Thank you all! Thank you Jennifer!
