Parent error no role assigned when logging into Scoutbook Plus. Can log into my.scouting.org and scoutbook.scouting.org

Error Message:

No Scoutbook Plus Access

It looks like you don’t have the right Scouting role to access Scoutbook Plus

Only Youth, Parents, Key 3, Key 3 Delegate & Unit Advancement Chair roles have access to Scoutbook Plus.

Parent is connected in my.scouting.org and Scoutbook as the parent of a youth.

What can I do to get this parent access to https://advancements.scouting.org/ ?

@LeonardWong what is the Parent Member # (no names) - we cannot help without some data

Hi Donovan-

The Parent’s MemberID is 141784781

@LeonardWong are they going straight to advancements.scouting.org after having a relationship setup - or are they clicking link in email?

This particular parent goes to Scoutbook.scouting.org first, logs in using a username (not email address). Their My Dashboard, shows their Child’s name under MyFamily, so I interpert this as the correct account associated to their child.

The Parent is able to see the Troop under My Units.

When the Parent clients on Events, this shows our upcoming Troop Events. The Parent then clicks on one of the events listed, and is redirected to the Internet Advancement page, but then encounters the Scouting role to Scoutbook Plus error.

When I login to Scoutbook, I can see the closed chainlink between the Scout and the Parent under Parents/Guardians area of the Scout’s profile. It is my understanding that this means the parent has completed the parent/child relationship in Scoutbook.

Do not even look at Legacy on relationships - Legacy Connections have NOTHING to do with SB+ Relationships. In SB+ - have you gone to the Scout and clicked the + under Relationships to add the parent?

Thanks for the additional information. I am don’t have an understanding of the SB to SB+ relationship, so I am sharing the information that appears before me.

As for SB+, I do see that this Scout has the Parent relationship tied.

(Scout) is Son of (Parent)

Is there something I should add to the SB+ relationship?

@LeonardWong- if you want to add another parent for the scout click the Plus to add the other parent

In my Troop, this parent did not indicate another parent with this child, so I am don’t have information available at this time to create another parent link.

If there isn’t another parent available, what can we do about this parent account?

@LeonardWong what is the Scout’s Member #? (no names)

In SB+ Reports - NEW Roster report - if You select Scouts - and then these settings you should

see the real relationships in system

Youth MemberID: 141802990

For disclosure in background information (not sure if this is relevant). When the Parent first setup their account, they incorrectly set their Parent profile with the DOB of their Scout. Our Council registration updated the Parent DOB. I don’t know if this would have an impact on how a Parent role gets assigned in SB+.

Running the report in SB+

I see that the Scout has a Parent/Guardian [Parent Name] (141784781) - [Council] - Father of - Guardian [Parent email address]

Yeah that dad is already in relationship - user name is everything before the @ of his email

I have multiple parents getting the same error when trying to add a second parent to Scoutbook Plus. In all cases, the relationship shows as initiated in Scoutbook Plus, and whether the parent logs into advancements.scouting.org or clicks on the link from the relationship invitation email, it gives them that same error message. In all three cases, the relationship added was “parent".

@JohnRichardson3 do they all get the you do not have access to SB+ popup?

At least two of them get the exact error message posted above. At first I thought it was a database sync timing issue, so I was going to wait and have them try again, but I just got this screenshot from one of them.

@JohnRichardson3 what is the Member # of this user?

That was 14295103

My other users with challenges confirming the relationship are 141834663 & 141835115.

OK there is supposed to be a fix coming for that screen - watch the change log
