Parent needs to renew their children...how can I send them the notice through system

I have 3 cubs in my pack who’s parents said they don’t get the renewal emails from national - which seems odd…..

I’ve sent them emails from the pack email reminding them to renew online or pay the pack a check and I will deliver the funds to the council for them. They still said they don’t get the email reminders -

How can I get them to renew/pay for the program we are delivering - we have offered help so they can access financial assistance but pack cannot absorb 100% of the fees for these 3 children this year and they don’t/won’t participate in fundraising.

Is there something I can click to remind them to pay?
Their memberships expired 10/31/25 and they still attend meetings regularly - at what point does it become an insurance issue?

@LianneRutty- the key 3 can initiate and pay the renewal via my.scouting.org. I just did that the other day for a few of our scouts.

The only people who get the renewal emails are the ones who are connected to the scouts in the Akela database. You can see this on the unit side by checking which parents are connected in the scout’s profile at SB+ (not in classic Scoutbook). I would also verify their email by clicking on the parent name to get to their profile.

You can also check the messaging interface in SB+ (now that it’s moved) to see whether the parents in question are set to No Emails (or however it’s phrased in the new interface). If so, only those parents can go in and reset that.

One of the unit Key 3 can also check the official roster at my.scouting to see whether the scouts are listed as Opted-Out, in which case the renewal emails aren’t sent (I think). You might now be able to see that in the unit roster in SB+. I can’t recall at the moment.

That’s a question you probably want to address with other scouters at the local roundtable and/or your unit commissioner or district staff/volunteers. Many times, commissioners and district execs are willing to get involved to help communicate the value of the program to parents. This might be a good time to activate that resource. We’re only supposed to address the technical questions here, and direct everything else to the local council/district.

That’s also a council question.

@LianneRutty If you want to post the member ID numbers of the Scouts, we could check to see if the parents might be opted out of e-mails from Scoutbook. However, they should still be getting e-mails from my.Scouting.

(No names, please)

@LianneRutty I will send you a direct message > look at top right Avatar to find it > it will be a green envelope > it will be a private message channel with select members of the Scoutbook User Advisory Council (SUAC)

Hi Jennifer, would you please check for mine too? I need to renew his membership.

@WeylinChi You need to log in at my.Scouting.org as the parent, not the Scout. You might also need help from your local council with your “relationships”, because you show as both “Mother of” and “Son of”.

should I seek help from my council if I don‘t think my parent has an account or if I think I was too late to renew it?

@WeylinChi Your parent has a username (login) at my.Scouting.org. She needs to log in as the parent and do the renewal. A Scout cannot do it.

@WeylinChi- the unit can process the renewal then the parent can pay the unit
