Scout Parents unable to renew scout membership

Parent connected to scout but is not receiving email/notification for renewal. Scouts membership is due on 12/31/2025, but since parent is not seeing the scout in the ‘My Membership’ or ‘My Renewals’ they are not able to renew. What are the options with the parent?

When you say connected, where is the connection showing? Classic Scoutbook? Scoutbook+? Scoutbook+ relies on relationships in the official AKELA membership database, which are either set up by the council registrar or can be connected by a unit Key 3 by clicking on the blue plus sign at the top right of the Relationships box under the scout’s profile in Scoutbook+.

I would verify the parent’s Scouting America Member ID between wherever you see them connected to the scout and what they see when they log in to my.scouting. It’s possible that they have multiple logins, or that their login wasn’t correctly linked with the registration associated with their scout, due to a mismatch in PII, like using nickname in one case and legal name in another.

The parent is connected in Scoutbook classic. Parent has only one email id which shows up everywhere. No Nickname.

Reach out to your council. I had a similar issue where I couldn’t renew my son. My council membership coordinator helped me fix the issue within a day of reaching out to them. Make sure to give them your name and your childs plus both your scout IDs. Troop number and district wouldn’t hurt either.

Also, don’t freak out about the deadline. There is a 60 day grace period after the 31st to resolve issues.

@Prachi_SBabu There was a Scoutbook issue that I was able to fix.

There seems to be a separate bug that is impacting individual membership renewals.

Need help resolving this issue.

Your council needs to deal with this issue. None of the volunteers here can solve registration or renewal issues. If your council staff, typically the registrar, cannot solve the problem they can open a member care ticket with Scouting America IT for assistance.

Back on Dec 24th an adult in one of my units had the “No Organization for Renewal Active” bug. I was able to work around it by using “Unit Renewal Guide for Unit Key 3 Member to Renew Individual Members of the Unit” (Dated December 2025). “Unit and Membership Renewal | Scouting America under Job Aids - Individual / Unit.

Must be COR/CUR or Delegate to renew Adults. Any Key 3 or delegate can renew youth.

I processed the adults renewal through the steps in the Job Aid (including making a payment) and got the proper responses listed inthe Job Aid on 12/24. It took some time for the IT system to complete the process (I looked just after complting the Job Aid and then did family stuff for the holiday) when I looked today (12/28) that individual now has an expiration date of 12/31/26, so good. The adult has paid the unit back.

Hope this helps some other individuals and units.

If that had not worked I would have sent an E-mail to my council registrar.

We have the same issue. Did you have a pending unit renewal at the same time? I’M hoping that’s our problem

We have word from Scouting America IT that this issue was fixed at about 9:30 AM Central Monday, December 29. Please try to renew again.

Unit renewal was already complete.

I’m still having similar problems with renewing myself and my son on the website. I click the message saying that renewal is due and when I click the link it says “No organization for Renewal Active.”

@ToddChambers- this is a notify council issue as the team that works on my,scouting does not monitor the forums.

I am experiencing a similar issue. I am getting renewal reminder emails, but when I try logging in with my son’s member ID(14665761) or email and birthday, it says no account exists. I have been trying unsuccessfully for two weeks to reregister including this evening. When I log into my account (141674241), it does not show the relationship between my son and I. Previously, my son’s unit did all of the reregistering so this is the first renewal I have had to do for him.
