Parent version of Scoutbook / Using Scoutbook without Troop

I have been a Scoutbook parent user since it first came on line back in I’d say 2013. It was quite exciting for our scout to open the website on the phone on the way home and update what he completed and watch the percentage of task go up or complete. In all the time I’ve used it as a parent to include our current troop, neither the Pack or Troop ever use/used the program.

My question is, is there a way for a Parent to track their scout with Scoutbook and not be associated with any troop. Our troop currently uses a 3-ring binder to input updates for the scouts, so for a scout to know his current partials and rank status, he may or may not get a report every 3 months at the Courts of Honor.

Maria,

All Scouts have been loaded into Scoutbook and are associated with their troop. You will need to do one of the following.

  1. Ask a Key 3 (Scoutmaster, Committee Chair, Charter Org Rep) to log in to Scoutbook using their my.scouting.org ID and password and connect you to your Scout.
  2. Send an e-mail to scoutbook.support@scouting.org with your Scout’s name, BSA#, council and unit. Ask them to connect you as the parent/guardian.

Since you have been using Scoutbook for several years, I also suggest sending an e-mail to scoutbook.support@scouting.org with your Scout’s name, BSA#, council and unit plus any previous units and ask them to search for and merge duplicate accounts if they are found.

Once you are connected to your Scout as a parent/guardian, you will be able to continue using Scoutbook as you have in the past.
