Parents of opted out Scouts still showing up in email recipients list

These parents don’t want emails as their child has dropped out so we’re having to try to manually filter the list on every Pack email. Can we please get this looked at and remove adults from this list when the Scout is opted out and dropped from the unit?

Thanks

@Chris.Peterson

Have these youth been marked as inactive in Scoutbook Plus? That’s related to opting them out (part of the same process, but only in SB+), but a different question asked as part of the process. If not, then the system is set up to interpret opting out as indicative of continuing until two months after the expiration date. I can’t promise marking them as inactive would make a difference, but it’s worth a try.

There’s also another workaround, but you have to use Scoutbook Legacy. In SB Legacy, go to the Scout, the select [Scout’s] Membership. Select their current membership, and then set an end date in the past, uncheck “Position Approved,” and click update. That should pull them off the roster entirely in Scoutbook (Legacy and Plus).

On the parent’s end, all communications should have an unsubscribe link, and they can use that if they really want communications to end.

The scouts are not even on our roster anymore. They were removed some time ago yet the parent remains.

@Chris.Peterson- have you tried the clear old connections in legacy scoutbook roster and connection manager

Ok I just did that, it said it removed 201 connections. Refreshed SB+ and the parents still show up in messaging. The scouts are all still showing in legacy even though they are not in SB+. I was under the impression we weren’t supposed to be doing anything in legacy anymore.

@Chris.Peterson- you are correct that there is little left in legacy. What i would also do is end their membership in legacy then clear the connection again. It is just in case there are any hooks between plus and legacy

I put an end date on all of them, cleaned connections, and parents are still showing in messaging. I’ll check again tomorrow as I know the system syncs every night.

@Chris.Peterson- thanks.. if anything it was a good record clean. Hopefully they come off of the list

@Chris.Peterson

Can you post the Scouting America Member ID (no names) of a few of the parents? Are these parents showing on the Scoutbook Plus messaging list, Legacy Scoutbook messaging list or calendar invite list?

Now that the Scouts are removed from legacy, I have no way of seeing the parents except when I compose a message in SB+ and select recipients. I will note that when I open messaging in legacy, those parents are not showing up in the list.

@Chris.Peterson- in reports menu in scoutbook plus at the bottom are exports… perhaps they will be there with a member id

I just had a chance to check and they are not listed in the export. Still showing up under recipients though.

@Chris.Peterson Could you provide the initials of the parents? Or I could send you a private message.

Here are the initials of the parents:

GC

BM

ZW

I don’t see them on your roster anywhere. I think I would need their names in order to find them and remove them.

Yeah they don’t show up anywhere but in the messaging part.
