Preferred Name in IA Calendar

Does anyone know why IA doesn’t seem to use “Preferred Name” when it differs from “First Name”? Roster and the new calendar are two places I’ve checked, is there some special setting I’m supposed to toggle? (Because I thought I did that by entering a preferred name in the first place.)
