Hello! My previous Pack didn’t use Scoutbook. So it appears that my kids didn’t earn their ranks last year. We are in a new Pack this year. Is there a way to correct this? It doesn’t appear to be an option in Scoutbook for me. How can I confirm that their rank advancements were recorded with BSA? Thank you!
You can add them to the correct den and enter the info, or have council do it, or not worry about it - the only thing that currently is referenced after cubs is AOL date on the Eagle Application @BeauPreston
Thank you. How do I reassign them to the correct den? Currently they are not assigned to a den in their new pack.
@BeauPreston - ah not being assigned to a den in cub scouts effectively turns off advancement. A unit admin would need to assign them to the appropriate den.
@BeauPreston you would need to work with a Pack Admin - on the scoutbook.scouting.org Pack Roster - they will have 2 Keys by their name
Okay. And once they are assigned to a den, can I complete the previous advancements? For example, one child is now in the Bear den, but the Tiger and Wolf advancement were not completed in Scoutbook. I would like to indicate that those were completed.
no they would have to be in a Tiger Den to Enter Tiger, and Wolf to Enter Wolf, then a pack leader would need to approve the advancements
@BeauPreston - was the previous pack in the same council? Did they present any advancement?
Well shoot. That makes sense. Because our previous Pack didn’t use Scoutbook and our new Pack dies, it kind of stinks that we don’t see the previous advancements. Oh well.
@BeauPreston if you do this I would use the old versions of the ranks and just put in a date for them and forget about the adventures
Yes it was the same council. I assume they presented advancements. We received badges.
@BeauPreston - then hopefully the scout retained the same BSA ID from the prior unit. Now, all units are supposed to in some form report advancement to council and would need an advancement report to purchase rank items. You would not happen to remember what they may have used to track advancement and what your scout’s BSA ID is… perhaps some data can be found.
Thank you all for your help.
I was able to resolve the issue. The new pack added my children to the relevant dens, so I can track progress in their current advancements. I then contacted the local council and asked them to update the advancement information for the two years that weren’t accounted for in Scoutbook since the previous Pack did not use the software. The records now seem to be in order. Thanks again for your help!
Once entered and Approved in SB it is in the national system
Sounds like your previous pack didn’t submit advancement reports or the council didn’t enter advancement reports into the system. Once you’re in the den, you can enter dates yourself for when your scout earned previous years ranks.
