Rank Approval Date Changes Automatically

For a scout who has completed their rank requirements (approved but not yet awarded), but is still working on elective adventures, it appears that the approval date for elective adventures (rank requirement 2) and the rank itself changes every time a new elective adventure is completed. Additionally, it appears to require that the rank be re-approved each time. As a specific example, one scout completed rank requirements on Nov. 25 and rank was approved. Then after an additional elective was approved on Dec. 2, the rank required re-approval and the date for rank changed to Dec. 2. The date for rank cannot be changed back manually. I’m not sure whether this behavior continues after the rank is awarded, but it appears to be a bug that the rank approval date changes even in the interim. Once the requirement of two elective adventure is met, the date for meeting that requirement should remain static.

@WhitneyD I am not seeing this happening in my testing on an approved rank - I do see that the date of Requirement #2 changes which is odd but it has no effect on the rank - if the rank was not approved that would be an issue.

The rank was definitely approved on Nov. 25. I double check on those, especially for my own children given the issue earlier in the year for den leaders approving their own kids’ advancement. The rank emblem patch has been showing up on the Needs Purchasing report for a week too.

I will see if I can duplicate the problem next week (when I anticipate there will be another elective complete), and this time I will take screenshots before and after.

@WhitneyD are you only seeing this issue for your own children or other scouts too?

So far, my child is the only one who has earned rank, so I do not have any test cases for other scouts. It may be another two weeks (or longer) before I do.

@WhitneyD - i will add that the only rank that is of any consequence is AOL which will be listed on the Eagle Rank Application if earned. The other dates are of little import in the scouting record.

After adding another adventure, it happened again.

Here’s a screenshot from Tuesday, December 3:

And here’s a screenshot from tonight, Monday, December 9:

Once again, approving an additional elective adventure changed the final completion date for the rank as well.

I checked and this is impacting the CS history report as well:

@WhitneyD what is the Scouts BSA #?

Was Coins approved before the 10th?

did you touch a required adventure?

Coins was approved on Dec. 9. The rank approval date of Dec. 10 appeared on Dec. 9 immediately after Coins was approved.

And, no, none of the required adventures have been touched. The only change made on Dec. 9 was to approve the Coins adventure (which I did through quick entry for the whole den).

@WhitneyD ok found the bug - it is QE

Great! Hopefully that bug can get fixed. In the meantime, I will avoid using quick entry for scouts who have already completed rank.

Well honestly for Cubs it really does not harm them at all as Tenure does not come into play at all

It happened again this week. And this time I did not use quick entry. Same thing as before; after approving a new elective adventure, the completion date for the rank advanced, even though it was completed weeks ago. Here’s a new screenshot for the same scout as the previous ones. Only the new elective was touched; everything else (required adventures and all other elective adventures) was untouched.
