Rank completed with out all merit badges completed

Have a Scout who is shown as completed Star rank and being gwarded, yet is missing a required merit badge.
How do you change this so rank is not shown as being earned/awarded?

When I click on “Earned”, I receive this messge:
Requirement #3 for merit badges should be approved before you can complete this rank.
I do not see boxes for Approved/Recorded or Awarded
Thanks

Jennifer,

I followed the previous steps for another Scout and I did get the prompt to change the date.

For this one Scout I do not.

Thanks,

John

@JohnBeattie Try:

  1. Go to your Troop Roster page.
  2. Click on your name.
  3. Click on your Scoutmaster position.
  4. Update.
  5. Click on your Troop Admin role.
  6. Update.

That should reset your Troop Admin connection to the Scout.

Jennifer,

Still not working.

If I go back to his 1st class rank I do get the correct message to change the date though.

Does the date that is shown when I became the Scoutmaster have any affect?

The date isn’t really correct and has an optional note of:

Thanks again,

John

No, the date your SM position started would not matter. Can you check if you have the same positions listed when you access them via the following:

  1. My dashboard > administration > my account > my positions
  2. Unit roster > your name

Also try checking this Scout’s Membership page.

What do you see under “Current Membership”?

Does the Scout have a green shield with checkmark (position approved)?

With green checkmark it Shows Scouts BSA

Correct patrol name and charter organization and Council

Date joined Oct 13, 2019

Both show me as Scoutmaster and troop admin.

I went to each area and did an update.

Both have green check marks

Which star requirements does the scout have marked complete? Which merit badges?

The requirements shown as completed for the Star rank are:

2, 4, 5, 6 and 7

#3 which is not complete shows the following Merit Badges as completed:

First Aid

Environmental Science

Communications

Fish and Wild Life

Archery

So he is missing one Eagle required Merit Badge.

The rank date and Merit Badges does match the Council advancement records as well.

I appreciate this help.

John

To be clear, it’s not just a display error, right? What I mean is, the scout doesn’t have another Eagle-required MB that’s not appearing in the list, but is actually completed and Leader Approved.

It sounds like Star rank is marked Completed and Approved overall, but requirement 3 is not marked as Completed or Approved.

On the Scout’s Advancement page, does it give a name of who marked Star rank Completed and Approved? Or does it say “BSA Administrator”?

He only has the 3 Eagle required merit badges, as shown.

That is correct and is shown as completed and approved by BSA Administrator on Mar. 27, 2019 and marked awarded on May 17, 2019
