Welcome! This forum has a treasure trove of great info – Scouters helping Scouters! Just a heads up, though - all content, information, and opinions shared on this forum are those of the author, not the BSA.
I have many parents that have a relationship listed several times in Scoutbook Plus.
Example is for one parent and one scout:
This scout BSA ID is (140528374)
Parent
(Scouts’ Name) is a Tiger of (Parent Name)
Parent
(Scouts’ Name) is a Lion of (Parent Name)
Parent
(Scouts’ Name) is son of (Parent Name)
I also have a lot of parents where they are connected in Scoutbook, but they don’t show up under relationships in Scoutbook Plus.
For my own son (BSA ID 13935777) it says:
(Wife Name)
(Scouts’ Name) is son of (Wife Name)
(My Name)
(Scouts’ Name) is son of (My Name)
(My Name)
(Scouts’ Name) is FATHER of (My Name)
These changes seemed to happen after the update a few weeks back.
@DarrenFerlazzo that is just the AKELA/Registration Connections - they get stacked on top of each other (Lion Parent/Tiger Parent / Mother/ etc) - we have asked about limiting how many are listed
Not all parents are connected under AKELA - usually only one is - the one that signed the first application.
To be connected that way - They contact your local council and ask them to use the Registrar Tools to look up the children. When they look up the children, they want to check children’s “User Relationship” and make sure that children are connected to parent with Only the correct BSA member ID number that they can log into
Units can add parents in Legacy Scoutbook. Or in Legacy Parents can add Scouts under My Connections
Just so I understand, if Council connects both parents to the Scout in Akela then they will both show up under relationships?
Also, when both parents showed up there, it was easy to get to the parent’s records to update the swim and medical forms. It’s very difficult now to get to the second parent to update information.
Yes - after 24 hours the second parent should appear - that being said it can be more consistent for the parent to connect in Legacy SB themself as then you know the account they can use is used
Thanks!! So I have scouts that have both parents connected in Legacy Scoutbook and I can see they are connected, but when I go into Scoutbook Plus only one parent showes up under relationships. Is there any way to get both parents to show up under relationships??
The “relationships” in Scoutbook Plus are the ones in my.Scouting, so units can tell which parent(s) / guardian(s) have the ability to renew their Scout’s registration.
Thanks! I understand that, but s there any other way to see which parents are connected to their scouts in Scoutbook plus?
Under relationships it use to show all the parents/ guardians connected to the scout. So it was easy to see parent accounts, see which parents are connected etc. Now the only way to see which parents are connected and get into the second parent accout is through Legacy Scoutbook?? Thanks for the help!!
Agreed, now it only shows the parent or guardian under the relationship status that has the ability to renew their scout..not both parents that are connected to thier scout in Scoutbook.
Is there any way to see both that are currently connected to their scouts in scoutbook in Scoutbook Plus.
I think we maybe talking about two different connections…parents who are connected to their scouts in Scoutbook for communications and ability to see activities and events, vs the parent connection that can renew their scout?
@DarrenFerlazzo - the connections in scoutbook classic do not pass through to scoutbook plus. The relationships there are done via the initial application and additional via request to the registrar to add the additional relationship connection hence the name of the data set in scoutbook plus. In a case where i requested the addition of a relationship connection to the council is see that reflected in scoutbook plus.
The scoutbook parent connections are still used for access to profiles/advancement and calendar invitees in SB+. To view, you should look in legacy Scoutbook.
