RSVP error message and indicator in Scoutbook Plus Calendar

Today a parent tried to RSVP their scout in Scoutbook Plus calendar for an event and got an error message (see screenshot): “Error. Your position(s) and related permissions do not allow you to perform this action”. Then next to the scout’s name is the word “Expired”.

This sent both me and the parent down rabbit holes trying to find registration expiration dates (all fine) and connections (all fine). Only then did I realize that RSVPs had not been turned on for the event yet. Once I went into the calendar and turned them on the parent was able to RSVP.

So two requests:

First - could there be a better message in this situation. Could it just say” RSVPs have not been enabled for this event”. What does “expired” even mean here? The current message is confusing and frankly incorrect. If you want to verify the scout’s registration status:

Second, I would really love a way to easily know if an event has an enabled RSVP. Now I have to go to each calendar event, click edit, and look for the checkbox. When I used a third party Troop system, I could easily see in a list of activities which had RSVPs enabled. This would be a big time saver if that could happen - maybe an asterix next to the event for “RSVPs on” or “RSVPs off” - something like that. If there is a way to see this that I’m unaware of, please let me know.

First, the Expired label is a known issue. The developers are working on a fix.

Did you have your SM position in Troop 7040 selected in the upper right? Having the wrong position selected is the only thing I can think of that would prevent you from RSVPing.

This was a parent issue and that message went to the parent. And as it turned out RSVPs were not turned on. My request is that there be a more understandable message than this when the issue is RSVPs have not been enabled. That was the only problem - not anyone’s permissions or connections.

What I am hoping for is a way to see if RSVPs are on without having to open every event. But maybe I have found a partial solution - if I click on a calendar day (not an event) it lists the day’s events on a side panel and their RSVPs status. But the perfect thing would be to be able to look at an event in the calendar view and see if it has RSVPs on - that would be my request.
