Hi I am trying to approve activities done to complete different requirements for merit badges for the youth in my scout troop however I get the infamous “scout not eligible for this advancement” even though they are already partially through earning the badge. If the scout hasn’t started the badge I can go in and start it and then sign off some requirements but the minute I close that out and go back to sign off another assignment I will get that same error. Sometimes if I wait a week it will clear and I rush to get all the built up stuff completed but recently it hasn’t. I believe I have all the permissions needed (already discussed with scoutmaster)- please let me.know what info you need to help resolve. I do go into scoutbook legacy select the scout and advancements and then merit badge– i click on the merit badge and it pushes me to the new system and then I hit the requirements button and thats when I get that error– happens with all the scouts in my troop.
@LaurenCox1- are you the merit badge counselor or do you have a different role on the unit ? If not an MBC i would recommend not working in legacy scoutbook. You can work only in advancements.scouting.org.

@LaurenCox1 you have no Advancements permissions - so you could not make any changes, but not sure if it would show like this
Not an MBC– went through advancements this time and clicked in scout, scrolled down to merit badges, hit pending, selected camping and same error.
Ok-- thats interesting that I dont have any “advancements” permissions as the scout master thought she gave it to me. The scouts sb number is 10357213-- but it happens for every scout in the unit…except those that havent started the merit badge yet and I start it for them. But this error is not consistent-- it will persist for a while and then go away. But I will check with the scoutmaster for her to give me “advancement permissions”-- maybe shes only giving permissions in legacy not scout book plus? Is that possible?
Yeah first guess is it is showing to no permissions in a way not planned - it should be everything is greyed out
