Scout on Website not in App

I have a scout that I can see in my roster on the Internet Advancement website, Scoutbook Plus, who does not appear in my Internet Advancement phone app roster. I even tried using the app search feature to look up my scout by name and member number (which I copied straight off the website that I had open on my computer) and it couldn’t find the scout. What’s going on with this?

When you say “app”, do you mean the myScouting “blue app” or the Scouting “red app”?

@PatriceLeich- there is no Internet advancement app. Some phones may prompt to “install” internet advancement to your home screen. That is just a shortcut to the web page.

I mean the red app named Internet Advancement that I use to record scout advancement for adventures and ranks.

The red Scouting app is only for parents, not leaders. You need to use Scoutbook Plus (https://advancements.scouting.org) to record advancement for Scouts that are not your children.

If it is this one then follow what Ed has stated

That is just the Internet Advancement (now called Scoutbook+) website that you saved to your phone as a weblink. It is not an app. The browser it is on probably has a cache issue and you need to clear the browser cache.

I cleared my cache in my Chrome app and it still isn’t showing my missing scout.

@PatriceLeich Please post the Scout’s member ID number, and someone will take a look.

@PatriceLeich- i may be able to do a screenshare on your phone to take a look. I suspect that the compressed view on a phone may be the issue as the scouts and advancement show up as cards rather than a list in a full web view.

We have left on a trip, so I don’t have my computer, which I need to get the member number because of the phone issue. Could I try solving this by screen share and membyID Sunday evening?

Member ID is 141945264. I did check on other phones and the problem does seem specific to my phone.

@PatriceLeich- the task then would be to figure out why your phone has the issue

While I still don’t know the exact cause, I seem to have fixed the problem by clearing not only the cache, but also all data from my Chrome app and the app that links me to the Scoutbook Plus website. It undid everything else I had setup in Chrome, but it did fix the problem.

I think there’s a way to just clear data associated with *.scouting.org sites. There was a post that mentioned it a while ago…

Chrome → Settings (under ellipsis at right) → Privacy and Security (under left side hamburger menu) → Third-party Cookies → See all site data and permissions

Then select the scouting.org sites and clear the data.

Similarly, for Firefox, you can selectively clear data this way:

Firefox → Settings (under right side hamburger menu) → Settings → Privacy & security → Manage data (under Cookies & Site Data)

Then select the scouting.org sites and clear the data.
