We use Packmaster for advancement tracking and many other functions. Packmaster has a feature to generate an export file with advancement data to be imported into Scoutbook. This function does not work after the big Cub Scout Program changes this year. I contacted Packmaster and they stated that BSA must specify the AdvancementIDs for the new program and have not done so yet.
When will this be done? I have a bunch of things to report.
That is up for to the third party developers to coordinate with BSA - if the 3rd party has not been in discussions there is little you as a user can do
I was hoping someone with BSA will read this and get on the ball!
They stated that they have been in touch and have had not response from BSA.
BSA Staff is not on forums - the 3rd parties have BSA Contacts
Thanks. How can I contact BSA Staff?
Users can’t make contact with BSA staff. Certain third-party developers have pre-existing contacts that they can use. There isn’t really a way for you as a user to move things along.
You could, as a user, theoretically talk to one of your council professionals and ask them to reach out to their contacts at national to see if they can move the contact along for whatever third-party developer has reached out. However, I wouldn’t hold out a lot of hope on that front, since the BSA is likely working to promote use of their platform (Scoutbook/SB+) rather than the third-party platforms.
I suspected that since BSA is so siloed and out of touch with users experience. Of course they are pushing their “free” program. I just wish it worked as well as Packmaster. thanks for responding.
No worries. Reaching out to BSA directly is a common ask, so even unit-level volunteers like me have encountered it several times over the years on the forums.
