Scoutbook Plus Online Payment Onboarding (Continued)

Continuing the discussion from Scoutbook Plus Online Payment Onboarding:

Units can now edit the Direct Payment Contact in the Online Direct Payment section of the Scoutbook Plus Settings page. However, Units will not be able to create a Stripe account linked to Scoutbook Plus until the Direct Payment Contact has been confirmed, which generally occurs on Friday.

In other words, any Unit that wishes to get a Stripe account set up before the Paypal integration is no longer supported should edit its Direct Payment Contact before this Friday, April 10, 2026.

Query:

If a Scouting unit already has a Stripe account, can it link that existing account to Scoutbook Plus? Or must such a unit create a new Stripe account to link to Scoutbook Plus?

It has to be through this process to function

I submitted the Direct Payment Contact for both the Boy Scout troop for which I serve as troop committee chairman and the Cub Scout pack for which I serve as Cubmaster back on Monday, April 6, 2026. Six business days have now elapsed; however, when I click the CREATE STRIPE ACCOUNT button, I continue to receive the following error messages:

  • For Boy Scout Troop 79:

Stripe Error 79

  • For Cub Scout Pack 3079:

Please advise what further action I must take in order to create Stripe accounts so that these units may resume collecting payments via Scoutbook Plus.

There was a post process that was failing - give it till Saturday for system to catch up

I see that the CREATE STRIPE ACCOUNT button has now disappeared from the Settings page for both units.

I’ll check back over the weekend to see if it returns.

The developers have found the issue with the button not reappearing when the status is Initiated. Watch the Change Log for an announcement of the fix.

I see that you posted an update at 2:43 p.m. last Wednesday:

An issue that caused the Create Stripe Account button to show before Stripe had completed the process to allow the account to be created has been fixed. The Create Stripe Account will be hidden until the account is ready to be created.

Please explain what steps need to be taken in order for the CREATE STRIPE ACCOUNT button to display again. I confirmed the Direct Payment Contact Information for both of my units two weeks ago, yet the button remains hidden for both. We need to be able to collect payments for summer camp and a high-adventure trek at the Philmont Scout Ranch.

@Bagheera did you try to setup both units at the same time?

No, I haven’t been able to create a Stripe account for either unit. All I have been able to do thus far is to submit the Direct Payment Contact Information.

@Bagheera yeah but you did it for both units - which seems to be the issue - I do not understand it - but DEVs know about it

How do I resolve the issue? Should I simply remove or change the Direct Payment Contact Information for one of the units? Or is this functionality broken for all time now?

I’m incredulous that I have been working on this issue since March 27 and still do not have any capability for collecting payments.

Anyone seen any updates on the missing Create Stripe Account button? I didn’t realize how many of my families don’t have checks so they got dependent on the PayPal option in the legacy system.

Can the Scoutbook Plus developers provide any timeline for restoring the CREATE STRIPE ACCOUNT button?

We have been two weeks now without the Pay via PayPal button in Scoutbook. We need to collect payments soon for Scout summer camp.

Dates are not announced - I would start an alternative solution for yourself if it is needed.

The Create Stripe Account button should be available now. You may need to do a hard refresh or use an Incognito window for it to appear.
