Welcome! This forum has a treasure trove of great info – Scouters helping Scouters! Just a heads up, though - all content, information, and opinions shared on this forum are those of the author, not the BSA.
*I couldn’t post to scoubook plus forum so I’m posting here. My name is Tong Du (removed by Moderator), I’m the ScoutMaster of troop 468. Recently (about 2 weeks ago), I lost permissions to modify scouts profile/advancement. When I checked scoutbook plus, I’m listed as assistent ScoutMaster. I’m not sure if this is the reason I lost the permissions. I was able to update rewards and advancement requirements for my scouts 2 weeks ago. Please let me know where will be the best channel to reach out for help! We have several ASMs also losing permissions to access scouts accounts.
As noted in the blue banner at the top of these forums, the permissions structure for SB+ was changed to reflect registered positions, rather than the positions in classic Scoutbook. As a result, unit Key 3 or Key 3 Delegates need to reassign permissions to scouters based on the permissions they wish the scouters to have.
ASMs do not, by default, have a broad set of permissions. You should check your registered position in my.scouting to verify if you are registered as SM, rather than ASM. If you are not registered as SM but should be, your COR can reassign your registered position to SM for your unit in my scouting or, I believe, in SB+. Changing the position in classic Scoutbook does not, and never has, altered the registered position.
If you are a new Scoutmaster, you need to ask your Charter Org Rep to log in to my.scouting.org or Scoutbook Plus and change your registration from ASM to SM. If you are correctly registered as an ASM, a Key 3 or Key 3 Delegate needs to use Permissions Manager in Scoutbook Plus to give you additional permissions.
