Welcome! This forum has a treasure trove of great info – Scouters helping Scouters! Just a heads up, though - all content, information, and opinions shared on this forum are those of the author, not the BSA.
I am an adult leader in 3 troops and 1 crew. Most of this is in NEGA council w/ 1 troop in Atlanta Area council. I am the committee chair for a troop in NEGA.
I have two BSA IDs one for each council. However, awhile ago my AAC ID became my primary for Scoutbook even with my NEGA troop that I am committee Chair for. While this was annoying, I was able to limp along and every time I wanted to do something I had to go to my.scouting.org use Manage Member ID to switch between the two IDS - then log back into Scoutbook.
With the new permissions in Scoutbook Plus, I need all of my NEGA Troop associations (both Unit and Scouts) to be attached to my NEGA BSA ID. Right now, Scoutbook Plus says that I am not committee Chair (I am) and that I am expired (I am not) because it is looking at my AAC BSA ID. My.scouting.org is correct and shows my membership as current and as committee chair with my NEGA ID.
NEGA BSA ID 12885081
AAC BSA ID 137254768
Council can’t seem to help me because each side can only see their half. I need somebody who can see both NEGA and AAC to attach my NEGA Troops/Crews and Scouts to my NEGA ID and my AAC Troop and Scout to my AAC ID.
I am also a Merit Badge counselor in both councils which is where I think this problem stems from. Please help.
Being registered and active in 2 councils is always difficult for Scoutbook and Scoutbook Plus. I see you are registered as an MBC and Troop Committee Member in ACC and Committee Member in 1 troop and 1 crew and Committee Char 1 troop in NEGA in NEGA.
You have 2 Scoutbook IDs and switching between MIDs in my.scouting.orgshould log in to the ID that is primary.
Connections only matter for MBCs. Being a registered MBC in 2 Councils is more difficult and not necessary because the Guide to Advancement says any Scout can work with any MBC registered anywhere in Scouting America.
I have swapped the MIDs on your Scoutbook Accounts since your connections were on the original Scoutbook account and requested a position sync on both. The positions should be correct on each account after 4:00 PM Central today.
I also noticed you are Key 3 Delegate in the NEGA troop where you are Committee Chair. This is not necessary because you are Key 3. I recommend ending the K3D role so it does not cause issues. This can be done in Permission Manager in either Scoutbook Plus or my.scouting.org.
Ed, Thank you very much! You have correctly summed up my positions. I understand that being in two councils is difficult so I was dealing with having to switch the IDs back and forth. But it became an issue when Scoutbook plus didn’t recognize me as my position when I logged in under my AAC ID (I couldn’t see the NEGA troop at all in Scoutbook when I was using my NEGA ID). I will wait and check again tonight to see if everything is resolved. Thank you for the quick response.
