September 30, 2020 Scoutbook Updates

Bug Fixes

  • Edit Profile
    • Unit Admins can now only edit the profile of adults who either are leaders in the unit or are parents of Scouts in the unit.
  • Manage Pay Pal (Council Admins Only)
    • The Manage Pay Pal feature for Council Admins has been updated so that units that have expired are not included in the search results.
  • Merit Badge Counselors
    • An issue that caused a Whoops error when updating a Merit Badge Counselor position has been fixed.
  • Merit Badge Counselor File Upload (Council Admins only)
    • Names in the Merit Badge Counselor File are now matched with a case insensitive comparison.
    • The note sent to Merit Badge Counselors when a change is made either via file upload or Member Update can be customized via the Manage Merit Badge Counselor page.
  • Purchase Orders
    • An issue that caused Scouts no longer in the unit to be removed from a closed Purchase Order has been fixed. Ending a Scout’s membership in the unit will have no effect on closed Purchase Orders.
  • Reassign Scout(s) button on den / patrol pages
    • The Reassign Scout pick list now uses the Scout’s nickname field, if available. If the nickname field is blank, the Scout’s first name will be used.
  • Sea Scout Electives
    • An issue that prevented Scouts from editing their own Sea Scout Electives has been fixed.

New Features

  • Hornaday Medals
    • Scoutbook now supports the William T. Hornaday bronze and silver medals. Note these awards cannot be marked approved by the unit in Scoutbook. They may only be approved by the BSA, which will then be reflected in Scoutbook.
  • Inaugural Class of Female Eagles
    • Since all Scouts in the Inaugural Class of Female Eagles will have their Board of Review and Eagle award dated February 8, 2021, these fields will be locked until February 9, 2021. When the BSA processes the Eagle award, the February 8, 2021 date will automatically be entered. The Eagle completion and Board of Review date has been removed from any female’s account if it had been previously set.
  • Switch SSO
    • The Switch SSO function now supports logging in with an Apple or Google ID.
