Welcome! This forum has a treasure trove of great info – Scouters helping Scouters! Just a heads up, though - all content, information, and opinions shared on this forum are those of the author, not the BSA.
Some of our leaders are receiving emails from National, such as the recently sent “U.S. Supreme Court Announcement — An Important Moment for Scouting”, while other leaders are not (myself included). The only option at the bottom of these emails are “Unsubscribe” without an option to “Subscribe”.
If leaders are not receiving National announcements, how can they subscribe to these email blasts?
I’ve had issues where these emails have ended up caught in my mail provider’s perimeter spam filters, as well as “locally” in the spam folder. I’m assuming you’ve already checked locally to make sure that it’s not getting flagged (at least in the portion you can check)?
I raise the issue because some commercial anti-spam/anti-malware organizations blacklisted some email senders coming from Scouting America (then BSA), which was interfering with a number of communications. It might be good to know if there’s a pattern to who isn’t receiving them at all (i.e. either caught by blacklist or not on the recipient list originally) versus who might be getting them flagged as spam, but passed through to the “recipient” spam folder.
For example, I have a gmail account which received the message just fine (i.e. to inbox). Based on that, it’s likely not a global spam filter issue with gmail.
Valid points and yes, I’ve checked. We have a few custom domains: @pack183.com, @bsatroop3.com, and @bsatroop1003.com. It’s a handful of leaders across all three domains that are receiving the emails, and a handful that are not (including me).
I’ve whitelisted the @scouting.org domain in our Google Workspace tenant years ago when it was deployed and I just verified that the “bypass spam rule” is in place. With a handful of users receiving the email, I am leaning towards it not being a spam setting on our tenant or at the local user level.
My gut tells me I (and others) may have unsubscribed at some point but there is no easy way to subscribe (re-subscribe) that I can find. Nothing in my.scouting.org, nothing in the email footer from another user, etc.
Google Admin Email Log Search shows this for the delivered users, but there are no logs for undelivered users (hence the gut feeling of unsubscribing) :
