Suddenly have "NO Scoutbook Plus ACCESS"

I am a Wolf Den Leader/Admin and a parent to two scouts.

Yesterday I was able to log in to Scoutbook Plus to log adventures for my wolves. While I was logged in, I saw that I was still on the roster as an admin/leader for the Tiger den (which I was last year) and I removed myself from the roster.

I am not sure if that is related to the issue I am having today, but when I tried to log in to Scoutbook Plus today, I get a message saying:

NO Scoutbook Plus ACCESS

It looks like you don’t have the right Scouting role to access Scoutbook Plus.Only Youth, Parents, Key 3, Key 3 delegate & Unit Advancement Chair roles have access to Scoutbook Plus.

Did I break something? Did something change?
I am not sure why a Den Leader/Admin would not have access to Scoutbook Plus, but I am still a parent to two scouts, so not sure what’s going on with my access.

I am still able to log in to Legacy Scoutbook, and it looks like I still have “full control” for the scouts in my den.

Can anyone help? Thanks!

The Scoutbook Plus permission system has changed. See Scoutbook_Permissions.pdf and the Scoutbook Plus permissions video.

A Key 3 or Key 3 Delegate can update the permissions for your unit.

@DavidAllen13 you have positions that are retiring - all the NAMED DL positions (Tiger, Webelos) - I would have KEY3 go to my.scouting.org > permission manager > move the user to Simple DL - give it 24 hours problem solved - when DL in SB+ - make sure still assigned to den and all permissions will be there

I have a leader with this same problem. I’ve looked over the Scoutbook permissions pdf. Not helpful.

I’ve played around with positions on scoutbook.org and then the Position Manager on my.scouting.org. Really confusing: there are two different areas that are position related. I’m not sure what the fix is for my user. Their SB user id is 2019034

@PaulThomas4 yes guess on this is to go to my.scouting.org as a Key 3 member (Cubmaster/Chair/or COR) and change position from Tiger Den leader to Den LEader

I have moved that leader from “Tiger Den Leader” to “Den Leader” and saved the changes. I’ll report back once my leader makes another attempt.

@PaulThomas4

It may take an overnight process for the change to take effect. If it fails tonight, try again in the morning.

Hello. I am having the same issue today. I am one of the Key 3 in the troop so why am I not able to access Scoutbook Plus if I have that delegation (confirmed in My.Scouting).

I’m not having the same issue with access as a Key 3 Delegate. A couple of preliminaries:

  1. What is the error you’re seeing? When does it occur?
  2. Did you try forcing a refresh in SB+ and/or clearing your cache?
  3. Did you verify that you have your Key 3 Delegate role selected in the drop-down in the upper right corner?

I get the no Scoutbook Plus Access error message. I tried two different browsers. Where would the drop down be if I can’t get it to log in from the home screen?

I logged into Scoutbook and picked the troop and can back door it into Scoutbook Plus. It defaults to Pack and there I am listed as a Webelos leader and it’s preventing direct access.

@ShannonStephenson Ask the pack to change your registered position to regular Den Leader, not Webelos Leader.

At the troop level, you are registered as Committee Chair. You do not need Key 3 Delegate or Registration Inquiry, so you can end those functional roles.

Jennifer already covered the big items, and kindly left the easy-lifting for me. :^)

I generally get the best behavior when I log directly into SB+ rather than going via classic Scoutbook. I’m kinda surprised it worked to go that route if it was throwing errors on direct login, but maybe it’s because classic Scoutbook recognizes the WL position, whereas the new permissions structure only works for the DL (nonspecific) registered position. There was some scuttlebutt on another thread that the “named” DL positions are going away

I don’t recall for sure, but I thought that SB+ defaults to your primary registered position. Are you primary with the troop or the pack? That might be why it “swapped” you to the pack role even though you transferred from the troop in classic Scoutbook.

I’ll just use the method I found. Thanks.

Primary is currently pack and will change at registration at the end of the year. I believe that’s why it keeps denying access since I am primary in the pack and listed as “Webelos den leader” rather than den leader. My husband is simply “Assistant Den Leader” and can log in. Thanks for the help and I’ll consider it resolved as I found a way in until things are changed.
