Training record question

Correct. He’s still showing up as incomplete.

MAybe ask the Council Training Chair who would be a Volunteer

He’s taken SCO_481. And I’m the Council Training Chair.

Not showing up as trained on my Trained Reports from my.scouting.

@ChristyCochran

Since you are the Council training chair, I would suggest asking the territory training chair.

I do not see SCO_481.

@ChristyCochran send it to Ron (again if needed) - I just solved a different issue for him

@ChristyCochran it also looks like SCO_800 (Hazardous Weather) is not current (from Jen’s posting). This is required every two years for ASM to be “trained”.

That one is missing from the training history export, but he is current on SCO_800.

However, this user does not have any courses in the SCO_4XX series above SCO_447.

I did a search for the title of the training vs the SCO# on a couple of them including this one … and I was made to understand that once trained in a position such as ASM/SM Specific, that they would always be considered trained, hence the NEVER under expiration. Is this no longer true? And if so, what impact will this have on leaders that were trained prior to course updates in Scouting U?

I’m making the assumption if he does the trainings SCO_478 and above it should fix things?

Thanks, Jen. Glad to know it’s there, but not the extract you posted. That one’s gets overlooked sometimes.

@ChristyCochran what I was told several years ago, when I was Council training chair, the report was not always updated for every permutation of past courses that count as being “trained.” And, yes, once trained, always trained, the report might not reflect this the further away from the training and the course changes.

@ChristyCochran He was originally registered as an ASM, then the troop registered him as a Unit Scouter Reserve for 2021. Then they registered him as an ASM again starting 01/01/2022, so he would have had to do the courses required for an ASM that were effective 01/01/2022.

Ooof. I didn’t realize that the date of training completion is tied/compared to the date of leadership status. I haven’t seen that come up like this before! @JenniferOlinger do you know if that’s written somewhere for reference point moving forward?

@ChristyCochran I do not know where it is written down, but the trained status is based on the registered position. So if an adult leader changes from position A to position B, then later changes back to position A, then the clock starts over, if that makes sense.

Thanks @JenniferOlinger Ahh, forgot this point as well. I’ve never seen this written anywhere, but remember being told this as well back in my Council Training Chair days. As long as registered in same position, your old trainings grandfathered. Once you change, you must take the new training to be considered “trained.”

Hi @ChristyCochran,

I have copies of all the different training requirements since the modules were introduced. If you like, I can compare his dated completions to the requirements at the time to see what, if any, he missed. I will need his last name to be able to pull his full training report.
