Transfer out of council after membership expiration

I have a cub that has moved out of council. They have finally found a pack to join in their new location, however when they try to transfer their child using BEASCOUT they get the following error

Error Code: sourceCouncilGuid is required when isSourceCouncilRequired=true and isSelfClone=false, Message: Invalid Request

Our guess is that this is due to the fact that they have been opted out for renewal. If that is the case how do I, or them change this status? If this is not the reason for the error, can you provide a solution. Thanks

Yep that is a new membership for returning scout now @MichaelSparkman

So to be clear, They need to go to BEASCOUT and apply for the new pack. When asked if they were a scout before, they need to say “NO” and then fill out the application as if for the first time. Then once they get their new membership number they need to ask to merge their old number and their new number?

We already tried to use BEASCOUT and use the youth’s current BSA number and got the error

Error Code: sourceCouncilGuid is required when isSourceCouncilRequired=true and isSelfClone=false, Message: Invalid Request

when they tried to check out.

no they say yes, so they do not have to pay the New Scout fee. It just will not be a transfer - at least that is how it is supposed to work - maybe call council for clarification

There is no merge numbers - as long as they register the same way (name/DOB) as before the SB users should merge.

Our Pack is having a similar issue with transferring 2 scouts. They are transferring from a different district and have tried lots of different things to transfer them online. But nothing works. Even our District doesn’t seem to know and suggests doing a paper application. How can this be?

And I do not believe they have an expired membership!

@MaryHoyland If you could post the Scouts’ BSA member ID numbers, we can take a look.

(No names, please)

13773579 and 13773577

I tried to sign them up as existing scouts and it said that they were already active members in another Pack. The parents have tried the similar process in beascout.org and they get an error when they submit the transfer button.

@MaryHoyland I think the issue might be because the mother has the parent / child relationship (in Registrar Tools) doubled to each child.

I would recommend that the mother contact Sam Houston Area Council and ask them to look up her children in Registrar Tools. In the “Relationships” tab / section, ask them to remove her as mother. Then ask them to add her back so that she only shows up once.

This must happen with all families with multiple children in scouts (when it comes to transferring)! I have contacted our Council several times about this matter, asked the parent to try multiple solutions (that don’t work), and contacted their previous Pack. A lot of time has been wasted on this which should have been a very straight forward transfer. A paper application seems like the best way to move forward. I appreciate you searching to try to find an answer.

@MaryHoyland Could you ask the mother to try one more time, please?

The Mom contacted her previous council as they thought they could do the transfer online - but still no luck!

It usually takes a day after the changes are made before beascout recognizes them.

They had to fill out a paper application.

We have a different error message when an expired adult tries to register himself in our council using Google Chrome, incognito mode:

Something went wrong
Error Code: HTTP GET on resource
‘hits://coreapipd.netbsa.org:443/api/memberships/3474D46D-5F12-4427-8677-46BA6A015623/registrations’ failed: SSLEngine is CLOSED., Message: Bad Gateway

The adult’s Member ID is 14717070, trying to register in the National Capital Area Council, coming from the Far East Council, Asia South. The FEC Registrar advised that he either renew his membership in the Far East Council [will that help?], or “just sign up with your council with the link new members use”. But that’s how he got the error. He tried registering in Troop 641 with their application link – My Scouting.

This adult leader already successfully transferred his Scout. He just can’t transfer himself. Many thanks for all the support here!

@AnnMacPhail Please ask the user to log in at my.Scouting and double-check his address there.

Then ask the user to try again using the link from the new unit.

Is the idea that he needs to update his address so it’s in the same council as the new unit?

@AnnMacPhail I saw different addresses in the databases, so he should double-check that everything is current for purposes of applying as an adult leader (criminal background check, etc.).

I think everything else is set correctly.
