Unable to sign off a merit badge

I have been trying for 2 weeks. I am able to choose the scout and then do the quick entry, which all seems fine. I put in the completion date and hit Save and it never completes. Just sits there spinning.

Personal Management for scout 132830403

@MarianZahn - you are doing this from the merit badge counselor role in the upper right?

yes, it says position: Merit badge counselor in the pull down next to the head.

Are you trying to approve things as a MBC or as a leader in the unit?

@MarianZahn - and you are the assigned MBC for that scout and merit badge

I’ve had the exact same thing happen. Entered and saved all the requirements, entered date, role listed in Merit Badge counselor, approved the badge and hit “save”. Icon keeps spinning and never saves. After 20’, I tried to refresh the page and all the info I entered and saved disappeared! I will have to enter it all again, but before I do so I wanted to find out what went wrong. Could it be my browser? I’m using Firefox. Of note is that the scout’s Unit Leader had not yet e-signed the merit badge. Could that be an issue?

@LawrenceHennessey - the e-signature by the unit leader is not a block to it being completed, approved and awarded

thanks. Any other thoughts as to why this is happening?

The MBC Just spinning is being investigated

thank you. I will try a different browser and see what happens.

@LawrenceHennessey @MarianZahn - can you try switching the profile in the upper right from MBC to another role then back to MBC and try the merit badge work

I started having a problem like this today.

Yesterday I was able to complete and approve advancement for youth I am connected to, including connecting to new youth.

Today I connected to another youth. But when I open up the merit badge, the “Add comment (0)” button has an endlessly spinning icon. I try to enter, approve, and save any requirement, and that save button just gets an endlessly spinning icon.

The final advice here was to go to another role then come back. I tried that – unless I navigate on the left, the merit badge page stays open despite an irrelevant role. So I tried switching to my troop role where I’m SM and opening a couple pages. I discovered that my troop calendar no longer loads, it is just a bunch of spinning icons.

Luckily I already have the event information I need for this weekend’s Camporee. So I’m just stuck wanting to finish the merit badge advancement from the fair last weekend before I forget.

Thank you in advance.

@RobKetcherside - when switching the roles I would suggest a hard page refresh

I tried control-F5 at various times, log in/log out, and deleting cookie. Nothing seemed to help.

However, when I navigated to another Scout (already signed off), I noticed that the “Add Comment (0)” did not spin for them. When I went back to the initial Scout, the spinning icons were gone and I was able to enter advancement. And now when I change roles to SM and go to the Calendar I can see all of our troop’s data.

Hopefully this helps to root cause and for others to work around it.

@RobKetcherside - thanks.. that is good info

I tried to change my profile as suggested. MBC was my designation, and there was no way to change it to a different role. i.e., no menu, no way to edit the designation, etc. I tried to enter the requirements again and when I hit save the spinning icon came up again. I’ve tried both the regular and quick entry options. I tried a different browser (Chrome vs. Firefox) and the glitch was still there. Any further suggestions? Is there still a way to submit a paper blue card?
Thanks,
-Larry Hennessey

@LawrenceHennessey - are you clicking in the upper right:

Yes. The only option that appears is MBC and I can’t edit it.

@LawrenceHennessey - I was not asking you to edit it, only to select another profile if one was listed.

Thanks. There were no other profiles available for me to select. I’ll keep looking into the issue.
