Hello, I’m a parent trying to initiate a transfer of my son (ID: 13858131) from his old troop to his new troop. The new troop sent me the link for instructions via Online Transfer and all was well until I tried to submit the transfer and got an API error. I have tried different browsers, different computers, and even asked my wife to try with her account. My account (ID: 14688719) is pretty messy, I think I’ve got an old account, and I’m linked to multiple units that we are no longer with. I’m not sure how to proceed, or even who to contact at this new council we are trying to join.
@DustyCourtney What is the new council that you are in the process of joining?
@DustyCourtney everything looks good for this - we can setup a screenshare if you want to look for any issues
@JenniferOlinger The Sam Houston Council in Texas
@DonovanMcNeil Sure, that sounds good.
@DustyCourtney can do right now if you want?
Sure - what application do you use for this?
I will send you a direct message > look at top right Avatar to find it > it will be a green envelope > it will be a private message channel with select members of the Scoutbook User Advisory Council (SUAC)
Hello - I am trying to transfer my 3 scouts. We moved from OH to VA and getting the same error when I try to sign up for new Pack and Troop
This has been reported to Developers - no idea If/When it will be worked on - Use Paper Apps for now if you need to register - this seems to be just for Cross Council Transfers but not sure on that
@DonovanMcNeil I am running into a similar API issue when trying to register my 3 sons for a new troop. When I login via my.Scouting and complete the youth application I get through most of it, but then get an API error right before going to the payment screen. This is on the popup window that asks you to digitally sign your name. The error states “Error Code: Logged in User does not have access to this API, Message: Unauthorized” The message appears after I type in my name and click the “go to checkout summary” button.
I do not get this error if I answer “no” to the question asking if they were a Scout previously on an earlier screen, but I do not want to lose the existing history of several years that my kids already had in Scoutbook. I went ahead and picked the “no” option for one of my kids --to see if it would work. This did let me through the process, but I now have a different issue of duplicate entries–shows I have 2 kids with the same name in my.Scouting & Scoutbook. I need to find a way of merging these multiple IDs (ID:13978018 & ID: 141147166). Seeking to get the applications pushed through the correct way for the other 2x kids so I don’t have the same issue of duplicate accounts for them as well. Member IDs I have not yet successfully registered for the 2nd and 3rd boy are: ID: 13917861 and ID: 137433804
All are moving from Transatlantic Council to National Capital Area Council, but their active memberships did lapse. They also already have previous member IDs at National Capital Area from prior to Transatlantic Council.
Thanks in advance for any help!
I am getting the exact same error. I am thankful to find this thread - please let us know if anyone has found a workaround.

@JamesThomas4 When you go to my.scouting.org > my applications > transfers/multiples, do you see all of your children?
When you change councils, everyone will get new member numbers. So, that’s not a big deal. It’s annoying that your child got a new scoutbook account. We can merge that (I’m away from my computer right now). But you would have repaid the full year national fee when you might have had some left on your scout’s prior membership.
@JohnDowning When you go to my.scouting.org> my applications > transfers/multiples, do you see all of your children?
I have been getting the same error code as well. Never had this issue before when transferring out of council before. I have cleared all my cache/cookies, used different browsers, called my council (who was of no help at all), and contacted our new council (who have been amazing). It has been over a week and it still hasn’t gotten fixed so on to paper applications! Hopefully it will all get sorted out. I do suggest downloading a copy of your scout(s) scouting records just in case something goes array.

Please ask your Councils to open a ticket with BSA Member Care reporting this API error.
SUAC has done what we can on this - flood your councils - provide details and screenshots for them - ask them to open a National JIRA Membercare ticket
