Welcome! This forum has a treasure trove of great info – Scouters helping Scouters! Just a heads up, though - all content, information, and opinions shared on this forum are those of the author, not the BSA.
I just requested a position sync, which should add a membership in Scoutbook for him with Pack 42. That should allow you to see his information. I believe the position sync takes place twice a day, so you might not see anything until early tomorrow morning.
You are connected to him in Scoutbook, but there is a setting in a different database that it sounds like you are not connected there.
When you say “it shows I have full control”, you are referencing Scoutbook.
What is needed is deeper in my.scouting.
It is too bad that the “Unit Advancement Details Report” (worst named report in the world) actually shows the connections to your children. A key 3 of the unit can run it. As a commissioner I can’t run it in the district roster.
Here is mine with my children blotted out. I bet if someone ran yours, your child would not be listed. My says Father of…, Father of…, Father of… for each of my kids.
Can you discuss this with the Pack Committee Chair of the pack you are going back to (p181) and ask their Scoutbook administrator to affect the transfer? I’ve managed to transfer into my Scoutbook several from beascout and several to other packs that were more appropriate for the scout after contacting the parents. Our pack is loosely affiliated with a public school, several other packs are associated with parochial or other public schools and I always ask about the young scout’s school friends & community friends.
I know internet advancement is supposed to all encompassing in a few years - but until then I rely on Scoutbook administration privileges for matters such as these. Until things change, Scoutbook transfers via administration privileges are easy and fast.
The only catch is that a transfer in Scoutbook doesn’t actually implement the transfer in the registrar’s system. A transfer application is still needed. If the my.scouting method works correctly, it transfers the scout to the new unit both in the official roster and Scoutbook (which catches up about a day after the official transfer).
