Welcome! This forum has a treasure trove of great info – Scouters helping Scouters! Just a heads up, though - all content, information, and opinions shared on this forum are those of the author, not the BSA.
I am trying to use the Unit Quick Entry to enter an adventure for my Den (Tigers). In this case, I am trying to enter the 2024 Tiger Circles Adventure but the same issue applies to other adventures.
After Selecting: Tiger → Tiger Circles → Current 2024 → Apply, I get a list of all members in the Pack. However, every single name is greyed out with a little red x on the right. If you hover over the x, on a Bear scout, it will say something like: “Scout doesn’t belong to Tiger Program”, which makes sense. However, on a Tiger scout, it says “Youth must be part of the Sub Unit”.
In this case, I do not know what “the” means in reference to “the” “Sub Unit” since I never selected a Sub Unit before clicking on Unit Quick Entry. In my case, our Tiger Den is “Tiger 6”, and all scouts are listed as members of the "Tiger 6” Sub Unit.
I am able to click on an individual scout and enter the adventure manually.
I’m glad I’m not crazy. I used to be able to do this in SB+. After the permissions changes happened, I had one of our Key 3 fix my permissions. After the permissions were fixed, I was able to enter Adventures but not with the Unit Quick Entry.
So if I’m reading between the lines, since I am registered as ACM, I cannot be registered as a Tiger Den Leader. Because of this, my “Sub Unit” will be some value (-1, null, etc) that is not 6/Tiger 6, and thus, in Unit Quick Entry, none of the Tigers will match my “Sub Unit”, leading to the error message I saw. Is there any way of fixing this?
@NathanKnotts- the pack would need to register a tiger den leader and assign that person to the den in scoutbook plus. The sub unit refers to den and patrols.
Understood. I am the Den Leader so it is pretty unfortunate that we will have to assign some other leader to the job to get around this limitation. I appreciate the help.
@NathanKnotts- officially you are assistant cubmaster not den leader. Your unit will need to register someone as the den leader. This is not a limitation but rather how the membership policy is.
What I used to do (serving as both ACM and DL) was register as DL, then just “assist” as ACM. I’d suggest talking to your COR or COR Delegate about moving your registration from ACM to DL and then just “moonlight” as ACM.
There is no need to register someone else as the TL. They can assign you the functional role of den support and also make sure you are assigned to the den.
