Welcome! This forum has a treasure trove of great info – Scouters helping Scouters! Just a heads up, though - all content, information, and opinions shared on this forum are those of the author, not the BSA.
One of our Scouts (Star) moving through Life REMOVED #34999419. Confirmed with Pine Tree Council (PTC)(218) Scout is registered until 31December2024. Note Scout dual status this summer to attend additional Camp in New York with friends troop. His Home troop is Troop 603, PTC, Can we correct Scoutbook’s registration status . Our Advancement Chair is not able to post his 12 merit badges or his rank completion to Life. I have not been able to adjust and PTC Registrar is not Scoutbook fluent. Please assist.****** Now, I cannot access Scoutbook orginal format and have limited access to Scoutbook Plus. Scout data from Scoutbook did not transfer to Plus. How do we facilitate the prior data for scout to current account? Ideas. Registrar at Pine Tree Council (0218) has confirmed my registration through end of year and Scouts through end of year. Donovan replied within an hour of your initial post. The jobs that bring Scouts back onto the Scoutbook roster only run twice a day. We say 24 hours because depending upon the number of members that need to be added by Scoutbook, sometimes members do not get added in the first run of the job. There is a chance the Scout will be back on the SB roster this evening.
The forum based process involved me searching though communities rather that a help desk specific to Scoutbook has there been any thought to a direct icon on the opening page?
I’m not clear where you mean when you say “on the opening page”. If you could specify the URL for the page you’re coming from, that might allow folks to more specifically identify the gap you’re seeing.
which has categories by topic. This includes one specific to Scoutbook, which has sub-categories for Scoutbook Bugs, change logs for Scoutbook and Scoutbook Plus, etc.
If you go to the “Home” button in the navigation at Scoutbook (https://scoutbook.scouting.org/mobile/), it has a link to the forums, which dumps you directly to the categories page I noted above.
Donovan was extremely prompt. I am not technically proficient and do not have access today to scoutbook. I am not displeased but find the Scoutbook system for correcting issues confusing. Thanks for all the efforts to support our scouts.
One item you may be unaware of is that BSA eliminated direct-to-volunteer/parent technical support a couple of years ago (at least it feels that long). So, there is no “customer-facing” bug list as folks might be familiar with from open-source development projects. Now, BSA national requires all support requests be routed either through the discussion groups here (for which the Scoutbook User Advisory Council or SUAC can usually help resolve or at least report issues in Scoutbook and Scoutbook Plus) or through the professional staff at the individual councils, who can then file MemberCare tickets with BSA National for items they can’t fix with either the Registrar Tools or the Volunteer Support Tools (VST).
Typically, assistance from the SUAC here is much faster than going via the councils, for items that SUAC can actually assist with. If they can’t help (or if it’s a bug in something for which they can’t interface with the relevant development team), they’ll point you to the council for support.
