Assistant Den Leader permissions

I have assigned an assistant den leader to a den in Scoutbook Plus but he didn’t automatically have advancement permissions. I was able to add the permissions for him, but only for the whole Pack, not just his Den. Am I doing something wrong?

@RobertReeves2 - i would think you need to scroll down to sub unit support. The document and video should provide more info.

What is sub unit support?

@RobertReeves2- a sub unit is a den or patrol. Did you read the document on the permission manager

Yes. I don’t see anything in the document that answers my question.

@RobertReeves2

I did look at that. I don’t see how it answers my question.

@RobertReeves2 In accordance with the Guide to Advancement, default permissions are granted to Den Leaders of dens (sub-units), but not Assistant Den Leaders. However, the pack (unit) may grant ADLs additional permissions.

It looks like you can only grant advancement permissions for the entire pack to an assistant den leader, not to a den only. If that is the case, it seems like something that could be improved.

The ADL needs to be added to the den first by editing the den and selecting them.

He is in the Den. Still no option.

What is the ADL’s member number and which den?

ID 141885746 Wolf Den

@RobertReeves2

What I see in the database, this ADL is not assigned to a den. Have a Key 3 member use Edit Den to place the ADL in the proper den.

He is most definitely assigned to that Den. I just removed him and added him back to see if that might work somehow. No change.

@RobertReeves2- was he assigned in scoutbook classic? The assignment MUST be done in advancements.scouting.org

No, he was assigned in Scoutbook Plus.

We are having the same issue. I am an ADL and lost permissions to view rosters and enter in advancements with the recent update. My CM has added me back to the Den and set me up as a Den Admin but I am still not able to view the roster.

@AustinRice- did the CM follow the video and doc on permission manager or did they do this in classic scoutbook

@AustinRice Den Admin means nothing now other than you are an adult in a den - Key 3 need to review these -

A major focus of the migration to Scoutbook Plus is to have positions mirror the positions shown in My.Scouting to ensure positions were reflected accurately in both platforms. The main purpose it to honor the guidance of our charter organizations and the positions they approve. Therefore, Scoutbook Plus does not use Legacy Scoutbook positions. Registered positions are used to provide base permissions. Some additional permissions can be added by the unit, however, there are restrictions on what can be given. See Scoutbook_Permissions.pdf and the Scoutbook Plus permissions video for more details.
