I have a parent who is linked as a parent with full control in Scoutbook, but does not appear as a parent in SB+. I need the parent linked in SB+ do they can renew their Scout. The parent’s SB+ profile shows “invalid” for birthdate so I cannot send an invitation myself, because it won’t allow a lookup without that date.
Scout: 130923092
Parent: 13125826
@PeterEasterlund if you cannot make the relationship in SB+ - your council can setup the relationship
Note that the council isn’t making the relationship in SB+ either. Rather, they are creating the “relationship” (key word) in the Akela membership database (also key words), which then flows out to the other software interfaces (Scoutbook, SB+, parent’s my.scouting account, etc). So, you’re asking the council to create the parent relationship in the Akela database. If the parent is also registered as a scouter, you want to ask the council staff to make sure that any relationships are moved to the registered member number, and that the member numbers for the parent are put under management at my.scouting.
They are already a parent in Scoutbook (Legacy) and have been for years.
Doesn’t that imply the Akela database relationship already exists and it is a problem with SB+ ?
@PeterEasterlund- if that parent is not in SB+ then they need to be added. The akela parent is added when the application is processed. And since it was only one parent listed the second parent in scoutbook it was added outside of akela and not validated.
No, because the process pushes only in one direction. Under the old process, anyone with enough information and access could add themselves as a parent in classic SB, which had no impact on what was in the official Akela membership database. Since non-parent/guardian adults could add themselves as parent/guardians in classic SB, for SB+ there is now an authentication process that requires that anyone listed as a parent/guardian be so listed in the official membership database.
There was a post about this update in the change logs some time back.
