Lost access to requirement entry

Hello,

I am a Tiger Den leader. Recently, I have lost the ability to enter rank requirements for anyone in my den other than my son. I have still have connections to den members otherwise (I can see their names under the Admin tab, send emails, etc.). Possibly this is related to me having duplicate accounts (see image below), but I’m not sure. Help?

Thanks,

~Glenn

I will take a look at it

@GlennWolfe - I think I have this cleaned up for you - you have several BSA numbers that you need to have council deal with or you can do it yourself by log into my.scouting.org > click Menu top left > Click Manage Member ID > one of the BSA # will be there marked PRIMARY > then add the other MID (BSA #) - you want to make the one that is your unit registration PRIMARY > Then go to Scoutbook.com and log in using your my.scouting.org credentials

110159963 is your Primary one
13485842 is another - no DOB so council will have to deal with this one
136603102 is another

Hi Donovan,

Thanks for your prompt reply. You did fix the dual accounts appearing in my pack roster; however, I still do not have access to my den awards/requirements. So still not sure what’s going on there, since I should have den admin rights according to my position. And not sure this is tied to the multi-# problem mentioned below.

When I follow your instructions, I see the following (this occurs for all of the BSA #s I attempt to input): “Failed to persist membership. Reason: User name is empty.” Screenshot below. I suppose I can work with my council to clean this up, but that means I have to identify who, at council, has the power to help me. Is it possible and/or advisable to ask them to delete the non-primary BSA numbers? One of them is from when I was a scout 20 years ago.

Thank you,

~Glenn

on Den Admin - that has nothing to do with position - but Unit Admin can add that to your positions

On the BSA #'s call council for help

Sorry, to clarify further: In Scoutbook under My Account → My Positions, it shows that I am the Den Admin and Tiger Den Leader. See screenshot below. Given this, I should have access to entering awards/rank requirements for all scouts in the den, yes?

Are you going to the Scout page and click % to next rank? That is broken - either use Quick Entry or click the Advancement tab on the Scouts page. Does that solve the issue?

I had another user with a similar issue this weekend. On your current positions and roles, select the Tiger Den Leader position. Check the box that says “I agree to join the unit roster” or words to that effect, then click the button to submit. This will reset your position and you should get back all of your permissions.

Hi Donovan, Ken,

Thanks for your suggestions. I am using the Quick Entry, and I still only see my son’s name. I did try clicking the check boxes as Ken suggests (for both roles), but that did not change the advancement access. Also these check boxes don’t appear to stay checked after I update.

Some additional information: If I look under My Profile → My Connections, I can see all my scouts but the connections only have green checkboxes for “view profile” and “view advancement.” For my son the checkbox is for “full control.” I suppose I could ask my Pack Admin to delete/end my current roles and start new ones, hoping that this would reset the connections?

Your Den Admin probably needs to be ended and a new one started that would solve it

Glenn, you seem to be connected to the other Scouts in your Tiger Den with View Profile / View Advancement permissions. If a Pack Admin re-sets your Den Admin role, this should be fixed. Here’s how a Pack Admin can re-set your Den Admin role:

  1. Pack Admin goes to Pack Roster page in Scoutbook.
  2. Clicks on your name.
  3. Clicks on your Den Admin role.
  4. Makes sure box is checked next to Position Approved.
  5. Clicks Update.

It might also be a good idea to follow the above process to also re-set your Tiger Den Leader position.

Thanks all. Resetting the roles seems to have worked.

Hello,

I am the awards chair for my pack and I seem to have lost access to all individual scout accounts, including my own kids. I can still approve adventures, get the purchasing lists and mark awarded, but if I click on any individual scouts account, it re-routes me back to my dashboard. One suggestion was to be sure the scouts were in dens, but we have not changed anything since last year’s advancements. Thanks!

are you clicking on % to next rank? that is broken - use the advancements tab for each Scout or Quick entry

Yes, I was using the rank % on the rank. Thank you. That does seem to be working. I appreciate the tip.
