@LiaWaterman It is a little awkward, but you need to end the patrol membership while leaving the Unit Participant membership open.
Then go back to the patrol page, and use the “Reassign Scout(s)” button to bring him back into the patrol with the Unit Participant position.
Do I do that for both of his accounts, or will that end the duplicate account?

Can you see what the participant used to create his account when he took the Youth protection course. He does not remember what he chose for log-in? Is the name associated with his account, his full name or shortened version?
(Shortfirstname)(Lastname) is user name
