No Leader add position / role button

I posted about this back in May and the answer was it was a bug. Last time it finially showed me the button for the person, but this time is being a lot more persistent. It has been a couple of week. I have to be able to make people pack admin. It is only certain people and the same people are the issue for all Key 3. So I don’t think it is my permission, it must be something about that leader. There must be some work around. I guess I’m going to try removing the person from the Pack and re-adding them as a leader. Please let me know if anyone has figured out a work around yet.

@RoyStiles

DO NOT remove a person from the pack. They will disappear from the roster and you will need to ask the SUAC or your Council to sync them to get them back on the roster which takes 24 hours.

Did you confirm that the adult(s) in question actually appear on the official roster at my.scouting as registered unit scouters (not just has a Scouting America Member ID but also has an associated registered leader position)? Only registered scouters can be assigned functional roles in classic Scoutbook or SB+.

@RoyStiles what exactly are you trying to achieve and what are the Member #s of the users?

Trying to make member #141530066 Pack Admin

If I have their BSA#, email address, name and address I should be able to find them and add them back, No? But even if I have to have the Council registrar add them back, I have to do something. I absolutely have to be able to give people who want to help Pack Admin.

@RoyStiles

When you go to the leader’s membership page in Legacy Scoutbook (https://scoutbook.scouting.org) the +Add Position/Role is grayed out?

Yes, the person is a registered Den Leader. This is a known bug in Scoutbook. I need to find a work around if they cannot figure out how to fix it. I am surprised though there is not more uproar about because this issue can be a big impact to a unit. Maybe I’m missing something, but like I said I posted this in may and nobody so far has a solution.

It is not grayed out, it is missing. I got to roster and then yes to the leaders page. There are several leaders with the same issue. Most though do have the add position/leader button.

Can you send a screen shot of the leader’s membership page without his name showing? Just portion showing his positions and where the button should be is sufficient.

Try closing one of the two Den Admin roles. I wonder if that could be causing problems.

closing and then Log out and back in

I wonder that too and will try but I have other leaders with the same issue that don’t have that problem. Give me a few minutes

@RoyStiles Remove the end date from one of the closed Den Leader positions, then make sure that it is position approved (green shield with check mark). The current registered position (at my.Scouting) must be listed as a current position in Scoutbook in order for the button to appear.

It won’t let me delete one of the Den Admin’s. It tell me to do that I need to delete the Den Leader role. If I have the bsa#, email, name and address, I should be able to find the leader and re-add them to the Pack right? That is what I’m thinking is needed to fix it.

Give me a minute to look at something else. Do not delete the den leader position.

I was able to close one of the admin positions. Please refresh and try again.

Ah, this might be it. He is a Den Leader in my.scouting.org, but maybe my.scouting.org is looking a specific instance of the Scoutbook Den Leader role. Give me a few minutes.

It is not re-opening the specific position it is just creating new ones. I tried 2 or 3 times. See screen shot. Maybe I need to close all of them, then go to my.scouting.org and make him a committee member and then make him a Den Leader again
